Positive: Quiet location. Good bathroom. Comfortable bed.

Negative: Paper thin walls( noise from adjoining room, could hear conversations); wardrobe too small for a triple room; overpriced basic breakfast; offensive generic email about check out, addressing me only by surname; staying in the Coach House the front door is open all night, so anyone could walk in; no internal phone in room( but one in corridor; no plugs near bed.

Negative: We were put in a very, very small room over The Fat Abbott and the walls were paper thin - we could hear the person next door snoring extremely loudly!! There were sloping ceilings in both the bedroom and bathroom which made standing up very difficult. The shower was in a high bath without a hand rail to hold to when getting in and out of it. We are in our 70’s so this was most inconvenient. Also,there was no seal on the bottom of the glass shower door which resulted in water leaking onto the cold tiled floor. There was no internal phone so we were not able to contact Reception directly. There was a storm, the night we stayed, and the windows were rattling and blowing the curtains around. The only “view” from the bedroom window was over the lower roofs. CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT BOOKED INTO ROOM 66!! We’ve stayed at The Parsonage hotel previously and were located in the main building which was 100% better. The “hot” breakfast was at best luke warm, unfortunately. The annex is not suitable if you have limited mobility as there is no lift and there is a staircase. Also, we could hear, very clearly, the noise from the restaurant and bar below. We booked our stay 2.5 months previous to our visit and booked the restaurant at the same time. However, when we went to check in at the restaurant they had no knowledge of our booking!! They did manage, after a short wait, to fit us in, fortunately. When we took this up with Reception, the following morning, the woman on Reception was extremely unhelpful and kept insisting that we were booked into the restaurant!! She wouldn’t listen to us telling her that WE WERE NOT BOOKED INTO THE RESTAURANT!! She was extremely unhelpful and most unpleasant and also extremely loud! Perhaps a Customer Services Relations Course would be beneficial as she was certainly not a good front of company face.

Summary: All in all, very disappointing this time.

Positive: As always a warm welcome was shown by all staff. Couldn't do enough to make us feel valued. We have been to the Personage several times and each time has been a really enjoyable experience.
