Positive: Lovely large house in the centre of Rothbury, which was ideal for our family get-together comprising teenagers, parents and grandparents. Everyone had their space. The bedrooms and bathrooms in particular were very comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed (apart from salt 🤷‍♀️). A lovely characterful house which Id definitely recommend.

Positive: Wow, what a venue! We came here with friends and their kids for Christmas, moving from a traditional hotel stay to everyone staying in one place, and it was exactly what we had hoped for! It’s quirky, spacious, warm, and cozy. The person looking after the house (who isn’t local) was fantastic at resolving our access issue and even helped with something we accidentally left behind—so huge thanks to her for that! The house seemed to have everything we needed. There was plenty of space (though parking was a little tight, we managed fine). There’s a small outdoor area, which wasn’t a problem in winter since we spent our time visiting Alnwick Gardens, with Cragside practically on the doorstep! The location is absolutely amazing—walking distance to every shop! The host was in touch, very personable, and couldn’t do enough to help, even though they live far away. All in all, it was a great price and an incredible experience!

Negative: The beds in one of the rooms weren’t the comfiest—but that’s personal preference, and no one else complained. The heating was a little temperamental; sometimes it got too hot, but that could have been us just getting used to the thermostat!

Summary: A cozy, quirky, and well-located venue that provided a wonderful Christmas getaway with friends.

Positive: Comfortable accommodation with lots of space. Well kitted out and a generous welcome basket on arrival was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Super comfy bed and modern bathrooms with toiletries. Wouldn't hesitate to return, everyone in our group thought it was great.

Negative: The inside back door has a good 2 inch gap beneath it which allows a huge draught to come into the hall despite the back door being shut. Perhaps a substantial 'sausage dog' could be provided to help with this.

Positive: Lots of room. Excellent location close to shops, pubs and restaurants.

Negative: Could only get one of the televisions to work. Although controlled by a thermostat in the kitchen the heating seemed to be on an unexplained timer.

Positive: Lots of space and lots of bathrooms. The dining room was very comfortable and the fireplace in the living room was lovely to have. They left a really delightful welcome pack which was a really nice touch.

Negative: It’s looking a little tired in areas and could do with upgrading. Little things like the baking trays being too large for the oven were disappointing. The showers were underpowered.

Summary: Overall we had a nice trip, it’s good value for money overall.
