New custom home with oversized windows and patio doors on 5 acres. Modern open staircase with four bedrooms and 5 full bathrooms. Surrounded by woods and meadows, this home has spectacular views. It is adjacent to 2100 acres of Mink River Nature Conservancy with miles of trails easily accessible from the back yard. Mink River Estuary, featured in Frommers guidebook "500 Places to See Before they Disappear," is considered a rare habitat, important for migrating birds, spawning fish and the endangered Hines Emerald Dragonfly. It is considered one of the most pristine estuaries of international significance. Take an easy hike to a beautiful grove of Sugar Maple trees on the trail from the back yard. 11402 Homestead Drive is only one mile from Lake Michigan and a public beach(Sand Bay Park). We are a five minute drive to Ellison Bay and a small grocery store and ten minutes from Sister Bay. Public boat launch at Rowley's Bay is one mile away. Eight miles to Newport State Dark Sky park. Enjoy stargazing from third floor look out with 360 degree windows and skylights. See Northern Lights from the backyard deck if conditions are favorable. House is designed with hydronic heat in the floor on the main level and baseboard and towel warmers for heat on the second floor. There are three air conditioner units in the house, one on each level. There is no ductwork into the bedrooms. Since Door county nights are cool, most guests find the house temperature cool enough in the bedrooms. Main bathroom on first floor is wheelchair friendly. Only one step into the house. Three ensuite bedrooms have sleep number king beds with bathrooms featuring huge walk in showers tiled floor to soaring ceilings. Blu tooth speaker and color changing lights in each bathroom will give you feeling of being in a spa. Enjoy grilling out on the Weber grill or extra large Big Green EGG. Ooni pizza oven on the deck to make your own wood fired pizzas. Relax in the outdoor living area with gas fire table or in backyard with fire pit. Split wood is provided. Ample seating at 10 foot live edge Black Walnut table. Large conversation area in open concept first floor with wood burning fireplace and 3 couches.
This home has everything you need. Puzzles, games, books, binoculars, fans and treehouse toy in bunk room. There are two televisions one in an upstairs bedroom and one in the downstairs bedroom. Beach towels, folding chairs and picnic basket with plastic wine glasses and a bottle opener and plastic dishware available for your outings. We have nine bikes of various sizes and 4 kayaks for your use. We have life jackets for your use. Please bring your own bike helmut or they are available for purchase in Fish Creek at bike shop. Keurig coffee maker and Ninja coffee maker and filters in fully stocked kitchen including an icecream maker, mixer, bread maker and blender. (coffee pods provided)
We have Starlink unlimited high speed (90mbps, 9 Mbps upload) internet. Security camera on site outside of front door. We can accommodate 8 guests, no pets please.

Summary: We have stayed in many places in our times of travel and this one is in the top 3 of the best places ever. We felt everything was accurate to description. The bathrooms were so nice and my daughter loved the colors she could change the light to. Never seen her so excited for a shower each night. The beds were so comfortable and we all felt at home. The view out back was a dream and we loved the gas fireplace to end each night as a family. I miss that the most! We got to see the northern lights and the comet this weekend. The fall colors were amazing and there are so many trails to hike in the back yard. This will be the most special trip for our entire family for years to come!

Summary: 4 couples stayed for a long weekend. The residence is secluded, but within 10-15 minutes of multiple communities. The home was just as the pics showed. Very contemporary and sleek. Each couple had their own bedroom. There is plenty of room for children to sleep if needed. Kitchen was welll stocked for cooking. 2 fire pits were very nice. We had two couples with asthma. The propane fire pit worked well for them. The residence met all of our objectives. We would rebook the home if returning. The hosts were very attentive to our needs. for chi

Summary: We had an absolutely wonderful 3-night stay at The Lookout. The setting of the property is magical on beautiful private wooded acreage surrounded by trails and the bird estuary. The home itself is modern, clean, new and spacious. The large windows and minimalist design bring the outdoors in and provide a tranquil vibe. The hosts thought of everything - the coffee bar was amazing and the kitchen fully equipped for cooking - ample pans, dishes, utensils, etc. The 5 full bathrooms were all uniquely designed with enormous walk-in showers. There is a lookout at the top of the home that provided amazing views and fabulous star gazing. The property is near the dark sky zone and we were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights from the back balcony. Being fairly centrally located, it was a quick drive to the Washington Island ferry, Newport Beach to paddle board, Sister Bay for dinner and sunsets, Fish Creek for shopping and Ephraim for ice cream! We cannot wait to return!

Summary: My family had a wonderful family vacation at the Lookout in Door County this weekend. The home itself is absolutely beautiful and perfectly laid out for a larger family to stay together. Dan and Ann could not have been more welcoming or helpful throughout the entire check in process and stay. Everything was thought of from extra coffee keurigs to all the pots and pans needed to cook our meals together in the stunning and fully functional kitchen. The kids loved the bunk room and it was close enough to the other 2 master suites on the upper level that we still felt close by. I have already touched base with Ann for our return trip for 2025! Can't wait to come back!

Summary: Modern and well equipped, , "The Lookout" is better than advertised. This new home is comfortable, warm, and perfect for our family gathering. We loved the view of the woods from every room and watched the birds from the great room. We also played games at the giant table, and had room for some down time when needed. The location is private and extremely quiet, yet close enough to Fish Creek, Elison Bay, and all of our favorite Door County attractions. Our hosts were great and highly recommend.

Summary: We stayed here for a bachelorette party. There was plenty of space for our whole group. The house is beautiful and has everything you need for a great weekend, including an ooni pizza oven! We enjoyed being a little further out but it is still very close to sister bay.

Summary: We had a wonderful stay with family and our 6-month-old son. The hosts were attentive and accommodating to all of our needs and went above and beyond to ensure we had a nice time. The house is great for groups and was well thought out, and the overall property had a nice quiet secluded feel. There were amazing hiking trails that connected directly to the backyard, yet it was a short drive into some of our favorite towns in Door County. Just a cool place overall!
