Built with sustainability in mind, using mainly recycled materials, but with modern insulation, double glazed European windows that combine to provide warmth, comfort and privacy.
Surrounded by waterfront and nature, lots of walks and water activities right on our doorstep, many native animals, birds visit daily. Kayaks and life jackets available.
The house is compact and comfortable, with a very comfortable queen size wall (Murphy) bed that folds away to make more room if needed. It has a great bathroom with a huge walk-in shower and a separate outside bath. This bath is insulated and supplied by water that is either solar, wood or gas heated to ensure a very relaxing experience under the stars. Odourless, composting water free toilet in the internal bathroom.
Although it is a tiny house, just 37 square metres, it has a huge rear deck, most of which is covered by a large verandah that also supports the PV solar array, which in turn powers a Tesla battery. This deck is sunny in the mornings and protected from the prevailing westerly winds, and provides lots of areas to eat, socialise or work from. Easy outside living, even in winter.
Adjoining the rear deck is a private outdoor bath that has solar heated, wood-heated or instant gas hot water. On the other side of the deck is a firepit.

Summary: Where do I start!…. From the pre communication of what where etc it was an absolute dream Catherine is so beautiful and easy going she immediately made us feel welcome. I cannot speak more highly of this wonderful experience in a new town. We were out of town a little which only heightened the whole thing where we got to drive through valleys and dirt roads seeing amazing wildlife and seeing normal Tassie life unfold it really was the best visit to Tasmania out of 5 for me. I cannot thank the lovely Catherine for her hospitality and the girls for thier fresh eggs each day DulaSula especially :) the Hut was so warm and cosy we were able to unwind and simply be in between the full on Tassie activities :) We had everything we could possibly need or want in amongst the eco friendly spaces from the kitchen garden to outdoor bath it is truely what you see and read. I cannot fault this stay Thank you Catherine Chris and Stayz. I could go on and on :)

Summary: We had a very lovely few days staying at Abels Bay. The accomodation was spotless and had everything we might need for a comfortable stay - the well equipped kitchen made cooking easy. Also, a great collection of teas! The accomodation was always a comfortable temperature even in the middle of winter, due to excellent windows and insulation. Catherine and Chris were very welcoming and generous hosts, ensuring we had everything we needed, including leaving special treats for us! The chooks are very friendly and great entertainment. We enjoyed some fantastic local walks - ask Chris for suggestions :)

Summary: The place was nice and clean, lovely quite area..was well stocked in pantry for all those extra bits and pieces. Hosts Chris and Catherine were lovely. They were right next door , but you had your privacy . Place warmed up quickly with gas heater. Needed to turn off before bed as was getting to hot and place was warm all night. Would definitely stay there again. I arrived to a bottle of red wine, freshly made loaf of bread and some farm eggs on the bench.. an outside bath which I didn't get a chance to use. But looked inviting.
