Summary: A really unique property in a lovely and convenient location, used to dealing with hikers and international guests. Great bath, good breakfast buffet, and pleasant staff who are all eager to help you have a great experience on Yakushima, no matter what you plan to do! I hope I get a chance to go back someday.

Summary: We came to Yakushima to hike in the ancient forests, and the Seaside hotel worked well as a base. This small hotel is walking distance from the ferry dock, and from bus stops for the public bus. The busses only run a few times per day, and the hotel staff were very helpful to us in figuring out our transportation. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We did not use the onsen, but it appeared popular with the other guests. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast buffet were included with our room, which was nice since the town is a bit of a walk from the hotel.
