Summary: The Heartwood is a very nice new hotel right on the Vassar College campus. The decor throughout was modern yet warm. Our room was very nice, with a comfortable king bed, modern and spacious bathroom, nice decor and a large wall-mounted TV. Given how expensive other nice hotels were in the Poughkeepsie / New Paltz area, I highly recommend this hotel, as it was reasonably priced and quite nice, with friendly and attentive staff.

Summary: Front desk was very friendly and courteous. Cleaning staff was helpful and did a wonderful job servicing the room. Coffee was available at 7 am, breakfast at 7:30. We would have preferred coffee a little earlier, however there was an in-room espresso option but at an up charge. We had the continental breakfast, offerings were limited but very good quality. There was an option to order off a menu at an extra charge. Wait staff was friendly but a few times a little stressed and short with the patrons.

Summary: Last minute trip for a family emergency. Hotel is clean, plenty of parking. Room was good size. Bed was comfortable. Did not hear any noise outside of room. The price was good for a normal room but the suites are oddly way more expensive. And the weekend rates jump high. The area seems safe but also just depends as like with all cities how many streets over one way or the other can change. My main complaint is the breakfast. Very unhealthy options, no scrambled eggs just hard boiled, and no bacon or sausage options. Lots of bread and sugar. I always looked forward to a continental breakfast and didnt eat here once. I suspect because they have an onsite restaurant they would rather people eat at.

Summary: Beautiful property very close to Vassar. Rooms are clean and modern. The complimentary breakfast was in a gorgeous dining space. The staff were very warm and friendly. Parking was free.

Summary: I liked a lot about this stay. And it's a very good value for what you get. The staff were great, the food was good, good prices for the food, the facility was very clean, the comp water bottles were nice, and the parking was convenient. Suggestions: 1.) tell people staying on the 2nd floor NOT to use the elevator near the restaurant side. It does NOT take them to their rooms. And this was not marked anywhere. 2.) Use TV remotes that are always backlit. Having remotes that are only activated when you hit a key (possibly the wrong key) defeats the purpose when the room is pitch black and you cannot see any keys. 3.) My Dirty Martini (gin) from the bar, while an ample amount, tasted like it was made with club soda. It had a dull, fizz taste (like Alka-Seltzer). VERY bad (and I've had dozens of Dirty Martinis).
