Summary: I booked with a breakfast included. When I went for breakfast there was no one around and I could not leave the property as it was locked. Finally someone appeared who said the manager is interviewing for a cook. No one told me there would not be a breakfast. very disappointed. The place is in the centre of town with limited parking, there was only one other person staying or there would not be a place to park. It is and in need of some TLC.

Summary: Very easy check in process and a big room for a family of four. The beds and pillows were very comfy. Very handy to have parking available on site and a good location with a great Italian restaurant two doors away. Room and facilities were only basic and the water pressure on the shower wasn't great. We weren't looking for five star and this room was everything we needed for a good night's sleep and a nice evening meal.

Summary: Room was clean, I was unable to open the window but staff were really helpful and tried to rectify the situation and offer alternatives. Staff was pleasant. Parking was easy to find

Summary: Room was clean and functional, with comfortable bed. Decor very tired with wallpaper peeling off walls and ceiling. Electrical socket behind the bed did not work so could not use one of the bedside lights. Wi-Fi did not work and reception on tv poor so most channels couldn’t be used. No food was available at all, despite there being a leaflet in the room advertising the restaurant! Didn’t really affect us too much as there are plenty of options in Selby, but it would be useful to have accurate information. Staff were friendly when we checked in. The George is in a great location, right next to the Abbey (although we were given a room at the side, overlooking the extractors despite the hotel seeming quite empty) and in walking distance of all amenities and the train station. Our stay was fine, but it feels like this place with it’s lovely historic building and prime location could offer much more

Summary: Nice room, had been updated, but had some signs of wear and tear. Staff excellent, limited parking, they register your vehicle. Adjacent to the town centre and Abbey. We would stay there again.
