Positive: The location was perfect

Negative: I booked a superior room and ok the room was large it definitely wasn't superior. The carpets were stained and the bathroom was damaged the base of the toilet was cracked so was the sink. The floor was sunk by the shower and the ceiling was half painted. You also had to keep the blinds closed as the next door window were opposite the bathroom window as they were not frosted. The mattresses on the bed was so thin it hurt your legs on the side frame while sitting on it.

Summary: Cheap and definitely a 3 star or possibly a 2 star as it is only a room.

Positive: The room itself was nice, the bed was comfortable.

Negative: The staff did not clean the room properly/daily (i.e. bed not made, towels not changed, bin not emptied). The water pressure in the bathroom was really low, the mirror light didn't work, some tiles were broken, the toilet flushed but took ages to refill.

Summary: Overall okay, but the bathroom wasn't the best and the cleanliness could have been better.

Positive: One flat pillow was very uncomfortable, the bed was ok however everything was clean and tidy.

Negative: The bathroom was on a slope and I had to leave the window open to shower because the steam sets the alarms off apparently. There was only one small flat pillow supplied, very uncomfortable.

Summary: Very reasonable price but you get what you pay for. Clean room, friendly staff but uncomfortable

Positive: Good location, free parking, polite reception, spacious room with private bathroom, fan, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, sofa including good decor.

Negative: We noticed some windows at the rear of the property were broken and replaced with boarding, so security was a concern. The grouting in the tiles of the shower were discoloured and detracted from the overall look. Double bed mattress was a bit uncomfortable but still managed to sleep.

Summary: Reasonably priced 3 star stay in great location with free parking.

Positive: The location was good and there was a private car park. The room I had had just been redecorated. There was tea and coffee making facilities and a fan provided.

Negative: Unfortunately the carpet in the hallway was badly stained. A bedside light would have been nice! The TV had a separate aerial which was poor and the TV was unwatchable. The shower temperature controls were difficult to operate. Although there is nothing that the hotel could do, unless the walls are extremely thin, but the people next to me were very noisy!

Summary: Reasonable value has potential to be so much better.

Positive: Great location in Battle. The one member of staff that we saw was helpful. (However there did not appear to be any staff around most of the time and we just had to post keys in box on leaving). The bed and bathroom were clean The Italian restaurant on the ground floor ( not connected to hotel was good)

Negative: An old tired building so no lift and a lot of stairs. My room was in the attic and looked out over a roof and chimney. There was no bedside light or lamp The Shower over the bath was not serviceable as a shower due to it’s position as you would have had to hold it over your head to use it. No facilities for breakfast No fridge in room No phone to call reception ( no one there anyway)

Summary: To be honest we wouldn’t stay there again

Positive: Reception staff friendly & helpful. Both rooms seemed newly refurbished. Property was elegeant older building, higher ceilings, sash windows. Beautiful location on Battle High Street very close to Abbey, shops & cafes. Beds were comfortable, showers worked fine. really good value for money. Appreciated that the property had period character and didn't feel like a chain. Definitely would use again.

Negative: Car park is a little tight.

Summary: Great Value. Excellent location. Elegant period property. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff.
