2 Bedroom Cottage in Featherston

Built in the 1870's, this historic self-contained cottage was the first building on the Longwood site and was where the builders of the original homestead resided while it was under construction.
The architecture is classic colonial and it has been furnished in keeping with the period.
The dining/living area is heated by a potbelly stove, and the kitchen has a modern stove, microwave and fridge. The bathroom has a clawfoot bath.
There is a small verandah with chairs and an enclosed garden.
We are situated 3 kms from Featherston on a 43 acre farm up a long tree-lined drive. It is about 7 mins to Greytown and 10 mins to Martinborough and the vineyards. Lake Ferry is about half an hour, and Cape Palliser, one hour.
Special conditions:
Basic tariff is for one bedroom either single or double.

Summary: Very quirky, original 1850s experience. Nice and warm with heatpump and fire. Clean comfy beds and lovely hosts. Some attention to general cleanliness and maintenance, simple things like a little milk (as it was in the country) and TV aerial connection might have helped justify the price compared to similar options in the area. An enjoyable break away.
