Summary: I love this hotel! It is beautiful and is full of history. Yes, it is very clean. The staff is wonderful! They are very friendly and so helpful. The food and service in the tavern was really good too.

Summary: Really cool historic hotel. The lobby and staircase are beautiful, feels like stepping back in time. The room was clean and comfy, and the food was actually really good too. It’s not super modern, but that’s part of the charm. Great spot if you’re visiting Douglas.

Summary: Beautiful historic hotel with grand lobby, great bar and restaurant. Rooms are not quite as grand and could use a bit more finishes, such as tile edges in bathrooms, windows near a/c, decor details.

Summary: Beautiful and historical property. Staff is top notch, super friendly and very professional. The property could use some loving but it is what it is. Stayed in room 103 and getting hot water in the bathroom was problematic.

Summary: I love the restoration and renovation work the new owners have done. I originally stayed at the Gadsden back in December 2013 and just stayed for a second time in March 2025. There was a dramatic improvement! I'm happy that this grand hotel is being taken care of. That being said -- there is one area for improvement. The room use window air conditioning units and that's fine but the curtains are very awkward. I hade to wrap the curtains over the unit to prevent light and people from the mezzaine terrance from inside the room.

Summary: An incredibly beautiful hotel. Amazing. The gal that checked us in and another that checked us out - so so Didn't really want to interact with us - I felt like we were interfering with them. The night gal - couldn't have been better. So pleasant. Answered any questions - went above and beyond. Rated it a 4 instead of a 5 is because the restaurant was closed for 2 days and the bar was closed. Since we were travelling - we couldn't even get breakfast in town before we left as nothing was open and we weren't going to go into Mexico.
