The Eastbury is a luxury Georgian country house style hotel and boutique spa with lovely gardens . The property is set in the heart of the lively historic town of Sherborne in the Dorset countryside. Secure parking is available. Originally designed as an 18th-century Georgian gentleman’s residence, rooms at the accommodations are imbued with immense warmth and character and offer a home away from home feel. All rooms are individually decorated and include an private bathroom. Guests at the property can enjoy exclusive use and choice of two lounges to relax in, a library and snooker room, beautiful walled gardens and private dining in a pod. Luxurious sofas, fresh flowers and a fireplace are included. The Eastbury & Spa is operating as a luxury Bed & Breakfast. Please note that our restaurant is closed in the evenings. Positive: We had a room in the garden which was really lovely. The staff when they were there were great. It’s very well sited for seeing Sherborne

Negative: It’s all a bit odd at the moment. Apparently the hotel has been bought and the new owners intend to upgrade the facilities and provide a restaurant for dinner, which is currently lacking. Also lacking is any staff on site overnight. There is a notification that the staff will be gone by 9 pm but at our stay they had left by 6 pm. So no bar and a strange atmosphere.

Summary: An interim service but a lovely location.

Positive: The staff were very friendly and accommodating, in what is a lovely venue with a lot of potential. It sounds like there are some exciting changes on the horizon, so we'll definitely consider staying again. The proximity to the town is ideal, with everything of note being no more than a 10 minute walk away. As far as recommendations go, dinner at The Green was excellent, and breakfast at Ogilvy & More equally so.

Negative: The restaurant was going through some changes, so only breakfast was available. At £20pp we decided to wander into town instead but found some nice options there.

Positive: Great location. Parking and access easy. Breakfast varied and tasty. Bedroom clean spacious and beds very comfortable. Staff were welcoming and gave great service.

Negative: Nothing. Only small thing to make it 100% would be to provide sealed bottled mineral and sparkling water in the room. We had tap water in a bottle which was ok.

Positive: Good location. Lovely gardens. Clean. Large room. Quiet. This is a great hotel in good location but we did not like it this time.

Negative: Bath in room. Mattress questionable. Pillows needing updating. Bathroom unworkable and dated. Receptionist not suited to front of house role.

Summary: Disappointed this time. Cowslip room to be avoided if you don't like a large plastic bath with ice white up lighters

Positive: The setting and atmosphere of the property is unique. The heating was opened before we arrived in the room. Towel rail is also on. Tea coffee biscuits are a good selection.

Negative: A refrigerator would be nice. There is a pair of old socks below the bed curtains. The reception could be more welcoming and helpful. When you are full in two hands, it would be nice if the staff can help you open the doors.

Summary: A bit pricey, but maybe there is not much stay options.

Positive: The location is lovely and well worth a visit. Lovely town and a great location to visit many of the wonderful sites and walks Dorset offers. The room was extremely warm and the shower and toiletries very good quality.

Negative: Whilst the garden rooms are spacious and very very warm. The bed was not comfortable. Why do hotels like this only provide standard doubles! The hotel whilst charming and quintessentially 'English', just feels a bit of a mix of tired and quality. The room itself had a broken toilet seat, a cracked bathroom floor tile. No ability to warm the towels and as mentioned the bed was not comfortable. We had to ask for a room clean directly and the bed linen was not even properly made or the floor properly cleaned. The manager was very welcoming and helpful, the other staff a little aloof. It has a feeling of something trying to be something, a bed and breakfast with whistles.

Summary: I am not sure it is worth the price - considering our experience.
