Positive: Overall, our stay was okay, but the hotel clearly feels past its prime and in need of a strong overhaul to return to its full potential. The hotel itself is nice and probably still the best option in Lovina, unless you move up into the mountains for something different.

Negative: The first night we had quite a bit of noise from the AC, which was bothersome. It was partially fixed the next morning but still not ideal. The staff were polite, but compared to other places we stayed in Bali, they felt less warm and welcoming. I’m not sure if this is due to management/ownership changes or because the hotel is trying to position itself more as a premium property. Overall, a good stay but not amazing — more like a solid 4-star, though leaning towards 3-star in terms of experience. With proper renovation and renewed attention to hospitality, this place could really shine again.

The Damai is a small-scale resort owned by two Danes, and I had the privilege of meeting one of them. We had a long and inspiring conversation, which immediately highlighted the personal and warm atmosphere that defines this place. With only 15 luxurious lodges, The Damai feels intimate, exclusive, and meticulously cared for. From the moment you enter, you notice the attention to detail in every corner – the ambiance, the finish, the comfort. But what truly sets this place apart is the team. Positive: The staff went all the way to make our stay unforgettable. 4 years after Covid our honeymoon finally happend and The Damai made sure we celebrated in style. From the room to the massages, the complimentary transport services and the brilliant food, it was the best we ever had. And lets not forget the beautiful flowers we got at our candle light diner. We will be back!

Positive: We arrived using The Damai airport pick up driver therefore we were collected in a beautiful car with drinks and cold towels from the airport. The reception team were therefore expecting us at 1045pm and were able to check us in quickly and even arrange for some dinner to the dropped to the Villa. The Damai itself is a paradisical place set in Lush Gardens with the most attentive staff one could ask for. The team go above and beyond to make sure everyone's stay in special including learning all guest names, dietary requirements, likes/dislikes etc. The attention to details in the rooms/villa were excellent. We were staying in the Master Pool Villa (Umar Ratu) therefore we had the beautiful infinity pool from most of the promo shots one sees for this hotel. The decoration, the outdoor decking and pool were maintained multiple times per day so the place looks perfect 24/7. Finally I would highlight the food at the Damai - each breakfast is a special occasion and the dinner menus/cocktail menus are outstanding (be willing to be pay a premium for such cooking if you can). I believe this to be the best resort in Lovina and so do the locals down on Lovina beach !

Negative: There are no negative aspects to note! The resort is perfect
