Positive: Fantastic location . There was everything we needed for a short stay. Very comfy & warm. Loved the thoughtfulness of small things like tea/coffee/sugar & shampoo etc Spotlessly clean & fresh. Very peaceful location & nice outside seating area.

Positive: Lovely daffodils greeted us up the driveway to the Cowshed. Lovely sea and downs view. Had all the facilities we needed. Underfloor heating was fab, if a little too hot underfoot in the bathroom but who doesn't like a toasty bathroom. Great fenced area for the dog. Loved the open plan layout and all the beams. Bed comfy with a duck feather duvet. Great outdoor seating areas. Cushions were wet (but we've had so much rain lately...) we just put a bin liner on them and sat in the sun. Glorious sunset on our first night (in March..... yes). Saw a fox walk by on check out morning. Would stay again

Negative: Some of the furniture in the bedroom was tatty - like in the picture from a 2024 review - but I think this is a blanket box with a throw over it for a dog to sleep on, so that makes sense. We don't have our dog in the bedroom but we know some dog owners like that.

Positive: The Cowshed is situated in a great location for getting out and exploring places and the Cowshed has lovely views as far as the eye can see, we found the ambience totally relaxing and it certainly made us feel we were tucked away in beautiful countryside. There is ample outside space to chill which was enclosed and also safe for our dog. The accommodation is spacious and well laid out. It contained everything we needed for our short stay - Thursday to Sunday, the kitchen and bathroom was well equipped and the lighting was great too which I personally think is important. Wifi was excellent so hubby was more than happy as England were playing in a test series so he could keep up to speed with watching the cricket live on his phone. There is a basic sky tv package with apps which we couldn't get to work but following one phone call to Cara the host was sorted out immediately.

Negative: Unfortunately the only downside for us was the bed, it was big enough but very uncomfortable, there was no support which was a total shame as you spend quite a few hours sleeping each night. I could have said something at the time but whether the mattress would get replaced was a 50/50 guess and we were only sleeping there for 3 nights. However, I would certainly have scored everything higher had the bed been comfortable. The last people to stay here did not clean out the barbecue so we had to put foil over the metal grill which obviously took us a lot longer to cook our food. Somebody must have noticed this as under the barbecue lid was a pack of new coals to use.

Positive: It was a lovely space which was nice but could have been absolutely incredible. The garden was enclosed and has mesh fencing over the wooden fence to make it secure which was great for our dogs. We really appreciated the fan in the hot weather, and the ability to open lots of doors kept it nice and cool. Sky TV and Broadband were great (note: the apps are linked to Sky Acct so you can’t log into some).

Negative: The cleanliness issues identified by a previous reviewer don’t seem to have been addressed. The mattress is still stained, albeit with a mattress protector over the top which is clean. The rug in the living room looks as though something large has taken a bite from it! The bifold doors in the dining area are very stiff and difficult to open/close. The front door doesn’t lock from the inside and the bolt to attach the top half of the stable door to the bottom has snapped meaning you can’t bolt it all closed either. Also, not a huge issue but a little odd - there is just 1 pasta bowl and only a huge roasting dish for the oven. Not the owners fault but to be aware the neighbours dog tried to climb over the stable door and spent a fair amount of time each day trying to get under the gates (and sticking his head through the fence) into the garden to get to our dogs (much to their dismay) and we found it difficult to get him to move away.

Summary: A lovely place but has the potential to be incredible!

Negative: There were a few small cleanliness and maintenance issues but the biggest issue by far was the bed. The mattress had a large nasty red stain and was uncomfortable the pillows were old and dirty. There should have been mattress and pillow covers. The property was not cheap therefore I would have expected a good standard of bed and bedding. I messaged the property on the morning I left to complain and they failed to apologise or provide an explanation for the shortcomings identified.
