Positive: This was our second stay - I can still only but praise the hotel's location on Ostrów Tumski, the stylish and luxurious room, and delicious breakfast (with various new treats made to order from the menu) boasting many options of superb quality and local products as well as very attentive staff throughout the venue. I like that this time, we were properly checked out, with the receptionist asking us how our stay was and if there is anything more she can do.

Negative: Unlike our first stay, there were no welcome treats in the room, which was (for a 5* hotel of this price range) pretty ridiculous, especially given this was our second stay and it was Saint Valentine's Day. Moreover, many 5* hotels offer complimentary upgrade for returning guests, especially during off-seasons, which February definitely is. We also missed those beautiful and insightful cards with information on local trivia (krasnals, Ostrów Tumski...) that were present during our first stay after turndown. This leads me to another point - the turndown was not present during our stay, which is also very odd for a 5* hotel. We made our booking almost 6 months in advance, yet our request to have a room with views of the square was not accepted.

Summary: Our second visit lacked just a few 5* touches - no welcome treats, no Valentine's decorations?

Positive: Super breakfast, although limited healthy options (but that is Poland in general, not this hotel in particular) large room, clean, quiet, good value.

Negative: Staff are not as good as the hotel deserves. The man controlling entry to the breakfast area was downright rude. I thought he was talking Polish - turned out to be English that I could not understand (and I am English!). When I asked him to repeat, he simply shouted at me "NAME!?" then "ROOM NUMBER!?". Really took the shine off the place. Waiter at breakfast came to ask me to order from the menu after I had already finished, and I didn't even know there was a menu, just a buffet. One weird feature of the room is that the bathroom has a glass wall.... so you have to draw the curtains when you use it, unless you like putting on a show for the neighbours.

Summary: Beautiful hotel. Deserves staff to match.
