Positive: Breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were both abundant and delicious! The orange juice was fresh.

Negative: There was no live TV in our room due to a faulty cable . The old sash window did not stay open without a prop, but it wasn’t a problem really as there was another to open.

Summary: Very pleasant! Would happily stay here again.

Positive: Staff was helpful and pleasant; we had dinner in the restaurant, and it was excellent. The location was good for us, as we had to return our rental car to the airport early for a morning flight next day. And we chose the inn because we wanted to spend our last night in a traditional Scottish atmosphere, not an international chain hotel. The surroundings, with canal and canal boats, as well as a family of swans (parents and 7 or 8 chicks), were delightful, and quiet. The pub was pleasant, too.

Negative: While we expected it to be an old building, the room was rather cramped, with the ensuite bathroom fitted in, and it was quite cold. The hostess turned on the radiator for us, but it was slow - fortunately, there was also a space heater in the closet, and once we ran that for an hour or so, we were comfortable. Because we had to leave early, we didn't get any breakfast.

Summary: Worked very well for us, and was a lovely way to end our time is Scotland.

Positive: Absolutely loved the location…close to the airport but a beautiful spot along the canal.

Negative: The room was very clean and comfortable but It was located above the bar and the entertainment was a little loud as we had to catch an early flight the next morning.

Positive: Excellent Cullen Skink, burger & sourdough bread starter. The room was beautiful, very clean and comfortable with a coffee making machine. Bathroom was lovely and all of the toiletries smelled gorgeous. Breakfast was excellent. The small full Scottish breakfast was huge! I bet it is fabulous in the summer by the river!

Negative: No bottled mineral water, they 'filter' their own and carbonate it and I am a water snob so felt this let the hotel down as a 4 star because we could both taste chlorine in the water they claim is filtered. The bread that came with the soup wasn't very nice so if I go again I shall ask for the sourdough starter with the soup because it was absolutely delicious.
