Positive: Lovely massive room, amazing shower and a perfect hearty breakfast! We stayed two nights for a wedding in the village and it was everything we needed. Staff were very helpful and flexible.
Negative: There was nowhere to store clothes in the room like a cupboard or shelves. There was a hanging rail but no hangers apart from two which were used for dressing gowns. It was totally fine for our two night stay since we didn't have much, but can imagine it being an issue for longer stays when guests might have more clothes.
Summary: Comfortable and cosy country escape

Positive: lovely welcome and excellent supper, rooms are nice and toiletries very nice
Negative: we booked 2 rooms, standard and superior room but could not see the difference between them, especially for Β£40 difference in price. I think there had been a dog in our room before us, slight doggy smell and hair on outside of the bed. The included breakfast is continental only, cooked breakfast is extra.
Summary: lovely stay

Positive: The Bell Inn is a lovely inn with comfortable rooms. The real draw here is the food, the dinner we had was outstanding.
Negative: the room had a fire escape door which actually led to another room. I could hear the people there very clearly and the door did not lock from my side, which was a bit odd.

Positive: Lovely pub and nicely decorated in the dining areas and refurbed bedrooms Food was nice and staff were friendly
Negative: The breakfast included is really only toast and condiments, croissants, fruit or cereal, there is the option to buy a cooked breakfast and I felt that should have been clearer on booking as breakfast is just stated as included. Β£7.50 for an average bacon sandwich felt a bit steep to be honest. We stayed in room 1 and it was fine however I think this should be mentioned on booking, access to this bedroom is up a very narrow and steep stone staircase. Whilst it’s quirky, it would not be suitable for everyone.
Summary: Nice place to stay but a few things need to be made clearer

Positive: Breakfast was good, we also ate dinner in the restaurant. Decor was nice in room.
Negative: The food in the restaurant was on the pricey side and they included a tip on the food bill. It was one of our most expensive meals while we were away in 9 weeks.
Summary: Pleasant surroundings to catch up with friends.

Positive: Beautifully decorated and really cosy nice little touches everywhere
Negative: I stayed in room number 1 with my mum who is 76. On arrival we were greeted with what I can only describe as a perilous set of steps. Stone, incredibly steep, really windy ,slippery and not much step to step on. So that was interesting. So much so that she didn’t want to go back down them until we had to leave the following morning, so we didn’t have dinner! I must admit I was quite relieved as getting her up and down them was a nightmare so we just gave up and had an early night, or so we had hoped. The room being over the bar felt like we were actually in the bar itself, and although we didn’t mind a bit of noise, we were expecting it staying in a pub, it was unbelievably noisy. I might just well have set my bed up actually in the bar itself. Come 11pm we were thinking that it would be ok that the noise would probably die down a little or so we had hoped. I think what I can only describe as a staff lock in went on until nearly 1am. Screeching laughter, loud music, shouting, if I could have got up and left there and then and found somewhere else I would have. This is certainly not made clear when booking and is very misleading. We then managed to make it down the stairs after about 15 minutes of pure panic and had to leave my mum down there while I bought our luggage down by myself to the car which I had to park half a mile up the road as the advertised car park was full of outdoor tables and chairs and there had been no off street parking when we’d arrived. I finally made it back for breakfast only to be told that the breakfast that had been advertised as included only meant yoghurt and a few dodgy packets of 1980’s mini boxes of cereal, whilst being gluten free was not going to cut it for me. We were then handed an extra breakfast menu which included all the full English and and avocado poached eggs on toast type of thing at an extra charge.
Summary: Disappointing. Would definitely not come back here given the choice of really beautiful B&B’s and hotels in the are
