Positive: The location was excellent.

Negative: The bins had not been emptied. The "welcome pack" was non existent. We has a 10 miles round trip for a bottle of milk. The downstairs cistern was running constantly. The downstairs wash hand basin was backing up. The stopper in the upstairs wash hand basin was not holding water. I was insulted by the suggestion that any visitor would be expected to strip the beds at the end of their stay.

Positive: Comfy beds, wood burner, 2 toilets.

Negative: We stayed in Brodick the last time we came and it was more central to the shops, the beach, walks etc. Whilst it isn’t the owners fault, the road up to the property wasn’t great to drive on. If you’re not used to driving on windy hilly roads full of pot holes, you’ll find it a bit of a problem. Late check in and early check out. Garden furniture needs replaced. Didn’t mind stripping the beds but the hoovering should be the housekeeper’s job not the guests. No mirror in the upstairs bathroom.

Summary: Nice comfy cottage. A welcome pack would have been a nice touch.

Negative: Not all bedding could be found. A few basics missing and heating was off before we arrived making for a chilly first night. Comms with owner not great.

Positive: A home from home experience. Lots of thought had gone into what to provide. Fantastic storage space, clean and tidy. Lots of room for a family of 5 without us getting on top of one another.

Negative: Lack of communication from the owner. Failed to answer any messages sent directly so had to constantly go through Booking.com then the wrong information was given. I asked if towels were provided, if there was a high chair and travel cot and got told there wasn't. On arrival found all of these things! My final message went unanswered when I asked about a dishwasher, hair dryer and DVD player. Again all were provided but we ended up bringing a lot of things we didn't need to. We had a major issue with check in and out times being changed by the owner without any discussion. Contract was breached and they threatened to cancel our booking rather than honour what we paid for.
