3 Bedroom House in Saint-Macaire-du-Bois

Le Tilleul Barn is a well equipped self catering Gite set in the Loire Valley just South of Saumur (20Kms) and in the small Hamlet of Chambernou in Saint-Macaire-du-Bois. It has its own tranquil private gardens that have a magnificent view of open countryside. It is child friendly for families but can also accommodate up to 6 Adults. We are within easy reach of Le-Puy-Notre-Dame, Montreuil-Bellay and Doue-la-Fontaine plus there are many other interesting places to visit which have beautiful Chateauxs and lots of history. There is a wine domain 5 minutes walking distance from the property for excellent local wines.
Suitable for 2 - 6 (We do have 2 x Z-Beds available for use in case a parent wants a child in the same room as themselves) (3 Bedrooms)
Pool Installation 10 x 4 metres (Shared with Owners). Sun Loungers, Table & Chairs are available.
There is a double bedroom with a large en-suite shower room on the ground floor with french doors leading to the garden. Upstairs you will find a large double room with a four poster bed and a vaulted beamed chapel ceiling with windows on three sides to capture the countryside views. Plus another twin bedded room with countryside views. We also have 2 x Z-Beds available if a parent wants to have a child in the same room as themselves. There is another refitted family shower room and separate toilet. Each bedroom is naturally bright and airy. Downstairs you will find a Lounge and Kitchen/Dining area which comes fully equipped with everything you could wish for to make a very pleasant stress free holiday plus a wood burning stove for those cooler evenings. From the Lounge there are French doors which open out onto the sunny private garden where we provide a BBQ, Garden Table & Chairs and Umbrella for alfresco outdoor eating. All rooms have electric heaters as well as the wood burner. In cooler months a small charge will be made for any electricity used as the Barn has its own meter. There is a large TV with UK Freeview channels. We also have bicycles that can be used for leisurely rides around the stunning local countryside & vineyards which are within walking distance if you wish to purchase and sample some very nice local wines. You are in an area where there are many Domains for Wine Tasting and Tours are available.
We are British owners who live in the Farmhouse which is completely separate to the rented Gites and are here if you need any help or advice but will not interfere if you prefer to do your own exploring.

Summary: This is a lovely gite and an ideal place to explore the Loire area including Puy du Fou which was only an hour away.The gite has everything you need for a an enjoyable stay. The pool is a welcome addition which we made use. Ed & Rita are excellent hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and their local knowledge helped greatly in planning trips out and the local wine tasting!We will come back again!

Summary: We had a fantastic time at La Grange. Rita & Ed were perfect hosts and very accommodating - Quinn was also a welcome addition. They had loads of tips for activities and recommendations for wine tasting locally. The house was perfect and accommodated 5 adults without any issue, very comfy beds and with views over the surrounding land. The pool was ideal - a perfect suntrap with more than enough shade to escape the worst of the day’s heat, and the water was just the right temperature. We couldn’t recommend this highly enough. Summary: We had an 11 night stay at The Barn. Rita and Ed (and Quinn the dog) made us very welcome and were there if we had a problem or any concerns. The accommodation is spacious and well equipped with a lovely pool!. Set in quiet countryside but within easy reach of all the beautiful chateaux of the Loire. valley. Overall we had a lovely holiday.

Summary: 'The Barn' is equiped with everything you need and more, even a welcoming pack (milk, coffe thee etc) to get you started. Rita and Ed are the most kind hosts you can imagine. They will help you out with anything and answer all of your questions, but leave you very private. 10 out of 10 score ❤️ In the area lots of things to do within less than an hour drive, the direct enviroment is very quiet and peacefull. Lovely big garden and heated swimmingpool.

Summary: Absolutely delighted we chose The Barn. We booked with the help of previous reviews and so glad we did. Peace and quiet, beautiful location and lots of things to do in the locality. The Bioparc was a huge hit as was the Troglodyte Village, the Petit Train and boat trip in Saumur. My daughter and son-in-law loved the vintage bike ride at Bouvet Ladubay too. Ed and Rita were the perfect hosts with lots of info ( especially our wine tasting trip that Ed planned for us and escorted us to - Edouard was a fabulous font of knowledge and makes wonderful wine) but were in no way intrusive - they were loved by both our grandaughters but have to say, sorry , the star of the show was of course, Quinn, the super dog - everyone loved him. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Summary: We absolutely loved our week at Ed and Rita’s. They made both us and our girls feel at home from we sat our feet in the drive way until we drove off. We will not hesitate to come back and will highly recommend this place to others looking for a calm place in the Loire with space for the kids, bikes available and a heated swimming pool
