Summary: We stayed one night to break our journey to Northumberland. The staff we met were pleasant and the breakfast buffet more than adequate.

Summary: Staff were very good, charming and nothing was too much trouble. The room on the other hand was grotty, black mould on the ceiling over the bath/shower, grime and gunge around the bath where the tiles meet, bath panel cracked & chipped and the floor grout was filthy.

Summary: 1st Bedroom needed to be renovated but Emma on reception give me an upgrade to a lovely room upstairs I enjoyed the pool spa area steam & Sauna.

Summary: The barn is decent overall, but a few things let it down. I've stayed there about six times over the last year as it's in a good stopover location for a drive I do regularly. The pool is decent, the bar is nice and they've invested in the lounge area, which is a nice space. The main restaurant for breakfast is very tired and needs updating. It's also a bit of a room lottery. Some of the rooms can be pretty bleak. They gave me 404 last week, which was particularly soviet. Walls are bashed, nothing comforting about being in there. For £120 excl breakfast I wonder if they're pushing it a bit now in terms of what justifies the price. Staff on the whole are great and the location is fab. Just worth having expectations in the right place before choosing.

Summary: We booked two rooms. One was in the newer/refurbished part of the hotel and was of a noticeably higher standard though both rooms were the same price. The staff were all lovely and the breakfast was very good and served in the light and airy restaurant. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Summary: Lovely lady on reception, she was very helpful and welcoming, check in was quick and smooth. The sort of staff member a hotel should value. The food in the restaurant was very nice, if a little pricey for the portion size.

Summary: the room was in very poor condition. The sink plug did not work, the tap was broken, the skirting boards needed painting, the desk was damaged, the chairs were worm and fraying, a lamp was broken and towels were dirty.

Summary: Although the hotel is a little 'tired', the facilities with the pool and jacuzzi etc are a welcome treat, and I have no hesitation to come back again. The staff are very helpful and they accommodated my request for a ground floor room, which I appreciated. My superior room was very dated decor wise, and smaller than the last one I had at this hotel, but the bed was comfy and the corner whirlpool bath was a lovely surprise. Breakfast was OK, a reasonable choice, but they have stopped offering fruit, or bagels, or philadelphia pots .. which used to be my 'go to' choice. Lunch and evening meals offer good sized portions and are very nice (if a little expensive). Overall a great stay, whilst the pool is there I will be back.
