Positive: It was very charming, lots of character and history. Owner was very friendly.

Negative: No central heating. It was so cold to get to the bathrooms and toilets.

Positive: Very friendly staff, very caring and they really guide foreigners very well about the locality, commute etc. Also, one person in my group got sick and they really helped us with temporary medicines to relieve symptoms. The accommodation is traditional and the interiors are very pleasant. There is plenty to eat for both breakfast and dinner. The dishes are delicious Japanese food typical of the locality

Negative: Shared toilets are tiny especially for foreigners it's a bit of a squeeze

Summary: Ideal place to stay to visit Dewa Sanzan sites.

Positive: This was my third time staying and I will return again. I really love the cooking which uses many dishes only found in this area. It’s a short walk to the start of the Haguro San stair walk so it’s ideal to stay here if you are planning to do the walk.

Positive: A short walk from mount from the amazing Mount Haguro hike, this is a very friendly quiet accommodation with excellent English spoken. It was snowing beautifully in February but the road was cleared well. Parking is right opposite the road. The food is excellent, with local touches, and a hot bath is running round the clock.

Negative: In winter though, the room is heated with a kerosene heater that produces a bit of smell / off-gassing inside the room and needs to be restarted through the night every 3 hours.
