Positive: Beautiful luxury holiday cottage just across from the Broch and close to the Callenish Stones. Very welcoming and generous hosts who offer personal tour of village blackhouses. The cottage is cosy and well equipped.

Positive: An amazing property across from the ancient Broch and 6 miles from the Callanish Stones. The home is like a high end vacation home with great shower, induction stove, washer and dryer etc.

Negative: In addition to all the above, the property owner, Murdo, is literally a ship’s captain with all the knowledge, thoughtfulness and good humor one could ask for.

Positive: EVERYTHING! Greeted by Capt. Murdo, we were immediately made to feel at home. Everything we thought we needed was already here. And the location couldn’t be beat. We looked out the front window and saw Doune Broch just steps from our door. We didn’t climb it once we climbed it twice because it was just so breathtaking. The black houses, alpacas, the standing stones, everything was just around the corner. It was brilliant. I have to say it’s the only vacation stay I’ve ever had where I was truly sad to leave. Being from America , this is the other side of the world and it’s a side I wish I could stay on. Thank you to Captain Murdo and for anyone considering staying on the Island of Lewis, if you’re lucky enough to find this available, grab it you’ll never be happier with any place you’ve ever stayed. Plus, there is a great gift shop a block down where Angus has some great gifts from the area at super prices.

Negative: Not a darn thing It was perfect Oh yes, one thing, I had to leave.
