Positive: The onsen was amazing and the cats were so cute. Staff were incredible. Ski field really close. A winter wonderland when the snow is falling. The winter beaches by the coast were beautiful.

Negative: Men's shared bathroom always had a strong smell of urine. As a westerner the breakfast wasn't hugely to my tastes. Great value for the amount of food, convenient, and for 1 morning amazing to experience what felt like a very traditional breakfast, but for all the mornings the flavours weren't to my personal tastes. Ski hire at the ski resort for foreigners is a bit steep price, if you have your own gear would be sick. Definitely need a car to get around the area.

Positive: Old but well maintained with a very authentic feel. Breakfast was great. We also paid to eat dinner at the hotel as there isn’t much else in the area - it was a treat. There seemed to be many local guests and things felt much less touristy than at the hotels near the jigoku valley.
