Positive: This was a nice modern apartment in a reasonable suburb about a 15-20 minute walk from the centre of Stratford. There was a large Tesco nearby for all of our grocery needs and the small kitchen was well equipped for cooking at home. The lounge area benefits from french doors that could be opened to allow a cool breeze through when desired. The apartment had one en suite room with walk in shower, plus a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. The beds were quite low but reasonably comfortable. We were grateful for the clothes airer and plentiful hangers to dry our clothes after using the easy to operate washing machine. The private carpark out the back was convenient. The stairwell to the apartment is well lit and spacious.

Negative: The lounge chairs were quite low (one did not have the legs attached) and only 2 seater, so you couldn't really stretch out on them. There was no light globe in the second bedroom and no spares that I could find, so I had to make do with the bed side lamps which wasn't ideal. The main issue I had was that I received a message a few days beforehand to say that I needed to pay a refundable deposit (not mentioned at the time of booking) and this caused problems as I was not able to do this (it would not accept my international Visa card and I could not receive an access code for my Australian Mastercard while overseas). I do not have a problem with this policy, and have paid such deposits before, but they are usually mentioned at the time of booking and paid well in advance (while I'm still in my own country). I contacted the owners and they said it was a new policy, i.e. it had been introduced since I made my booking. I feel like in this case, it shouldn't be applied retrospectively. They kept telling me it was a problem with my card and to contact my bank, which I couldn't do because of the time difference and also it wasn't a problem with my card as I was able to pay the balance for the stay through their system fine on the same card. I rang the help number and the person said they'd waive it, but I then kept on getting messages to say I needed to pay it or I couldn't check in and when I replied I'd get told again (by a different representative) that I needed to contact my bank to get it to go through. This caused me a lot of stress in the days leading up to the stay as I was worried my booking would be cancelled because of this issue. Finally, I was provided with the access details for the property the day before and I was able to get in no problems in the end. There was also a requirement to document any existing damage to the apartment and I felt this was a demanding expectation.
