Positive: It's amazing having a room with a hot spring tub on the balcony with forest/mountain views It's nice and quiet with occasional sounds of the JR train across the gorge passing by The breakfast and dinner is really family friendly and good

Negative: The shared onsen and bath is a little small if the hotel is fully booked

Summary: Great place to stay if you want to explore the gorge, vine bridge and all the nature

Positive: The location was perfect to explore all around the Iya Valley and for amazing local walks. The Japanese meals were very good. The onsen at our room as lovely to be private, with a great view of the hills. The staff were very helpful and polite.

Negative: The bedroom had a bad smell, like boiled cabbage, not sure why as it did not smell like cigarettes. We managed this by keeping the outside door open for ventilation which worked well. We missed not having a hot shower in the bedroom. The one outside by the private onsen did not have hot enough water, so it was very cold to wash in on a cold day. We found the hotel expensive given the hotel decoration was quite dated and there was not a bathroom in the room

Summary: This excellent location to explore the beautiful Iya valley offsets the dated hotel

Positive: The rooms were lovely. Great to have the free Onsen which we really enjoyed. Staff were very helpful and the shuttle bus to the station on the day we left was great. The area was so beautiful, we were very glad we came to Oboke and the Iya Valley

Negative: The breakfast was great plenty of choice. However the evening dinner was a bit limited on choice.

Summary: We loved our time here.

Positive: The room and facilities are super clean. Food quantity and quality was worth it, the baths are hot enough as well.

Negative: The fish was somehow dry and I wasn't able to eat it but the rest was delicious!

Positive: The hotel is a bit outdated, and it felt like taking a step back in time. For us, this added very much to the charm of the property! The room was very nice and had a beautiful view of the mountains. We were very grateful to use the open air bath in the cold evening, looking at the stars. The staff is absolutely attentive and helpful. We felt very much taken care of in the hotel!

Negative: The hotel was great, and we do not have any complains, although the structure is a bit outdated, we thought it added to the charm
