A secluded house nestled away from the public, this house is close to everything, but has the feel that the world is a mile away. Sit on the porch and watch the deer walking their trail , or listen to the creek babble in the distance. A mile north of the house is Lake Ontario with a large park and miles of trails, fishing pier and a boat launch nearby. Two miles to the south you will find another park with a walking trail, fishing and the expressway leading to Rochester or wine trails. The famous Wegman's Grocery Store and Webster shopping plaza is located right next to the expressway. The stone walls on this cottage are the original walls of an old barn which my Grandmother incorporated in building her home. At night it has been known to hear her rustling about in the kitchen. Have no fear !! Grandma is very loving and welcoming to all visitors !

Summary: The cottage was lovely. Wendy was great and I really appreciated her thoughtfulness with having some basic staples available. I also enjoyed feeding the deer. My stay was very relaxing!

Summary: Overall, it was an enjoyable stay. It was very nice to have some food staples in the refridgerator. The interior was charming as well as the yard. We enjoyed the deer and our grandson loved feeding and watching them.I do want to mention that the tub drained slow or at times was stopped up. Had to plunge it a couple of times.

Summary: Was a nice rustic place with a lot of character. The location was great for proximity to my family in the area. I enjoyed my stay there and loved the area and the surroundings. It wasn’t the best place for a longer term stay as it didn’t have laundry and I spent a bunch of time daily having to hand wash dishes as well (in hindsight I should have paid more attention to the list of amenities). There was a disconnect between the owner and myself regarding the pets that I brought with me due to the way the transaction between us occurred, but was still acceptable within the policies she had for the stay. We resolved it between us in the first day, but definitely didn't feel like she let it go. I was very disappointed on how this visit ended as she dropped a surprise damage fee on me that was unwarranted in my opinion and a complete over-reaction / money grab on her part. Bottom line I took great care of her house like it was my own, and left it in outstanding condition upon my departure.

Summary: Close to magic, the cottage evokes old, charming, blended into nature to the extent that wildlife - birds, deer, chipmunks - are comfortable coming near the front porch, which itself is a pleasant place to spend time surrounded by forest. Yet major stores are a very short drive as is Webster Park and the Lake Ontario shore. The City is a bit further, but not far at all. If the latest appliances, granite countertops, rain shower or jacuzzi, etc. are important to you, this is not the place to stay. The kitchen is equipped with the tools you''ll to cook meals, but there isn't a lot of counterspace. The second bedroom, a loft, is a bit difficult to navigate as the ceiling is low and space tight, but I managed and slept very well. The master bedroom is like a suite, the bathroom a walk-through from the living area to the master bedroom. That said, the walls are stone walls erected in the mid-1800's, the house built with wood cut from timber - I doubt there's plywood or veneer used at all. The cottage itself could be the destination, and we spent more time there than we'd planned because it was relaxing, quiet - except for bullfrogs at night, birds during the day and the road it's off of can be a bit noisy at times, and close to everything while feeling far from it all.. And Wendy, the host, was welcoming, accessible and accommodating.
