Positive: We were return visitors to the property, having spend a week there previously. I can’t fault a thing about Stanley Barn. Was sheer luxury and a perfect way to chill and relax with family. I shall definitely be back for a third visit. My dog and my sisters dog agree.

Positive: Beautifully appointed and a splendid conversion of farm buildings into a comfortable cottage. We liked the fact that it does indeed have an under counter freezer as well as a fridge, unfortunately contrary to the information we had been given. You can get supermarket deliveries to the door (Tesco) which greatly eases self catering. There are good pub diners to try, but note the nights they offer food - some closed Mon/Tue others only offering meals at the end of the week. Plenty of things to do and see - Lanercost Priory, Hadrians Wall, Carlisle Castle etc plus country walks in what is glorious uncrowded countryside just pleasantly off the heavily beaten Lake District path!

Negative: We went at the start of September and a couple of light bulbs were non operational - I guess this might have been the first time needed after the summer. Not a huge issue, very minor inconvenience.

Summary: Super quiet spot for an away from it all break.

Positive: This converted barn was absolutely perfect . We went as a family of 6 ( all adults ) with our 2 dogs . The lay out was ideal . So much thought has went into the decor in this cottage and its just simply stunning . Weather wasn't the best but that didn't bother us , if anything it just made being in such a homely , cosy cottage all the better . Would 100% return .
