Refugio is a contemporary Spanish-style guesthouse, a peaceful retreat, and a place to wind down at magic hour. Refugio boasts two state-of-the-art suites, each with private deck and fire-pit (and mini-bar). Indulge your inner chef in the fully-equipped teaching/catering kitchen and expansive patio overlooking two and a half acres of pasture, with two 300-year-old oak trees.
The two completely separate and private suites at Refugio can comfortably accommodate one or two single(s), one or two couple(s), and family or professional groups. The lounge area of the kitchen/studio boasts a queen-sized pull out sofa equipped with lush linens and pillows; a folding carved wooden room-divider provides added privacy.
Sheets are Italian, wi-fi is strong, and bathrooms boast heated tile floors, comfy bathrobes and lush towels, locally-sourced products, and high-end fixtures.
You will not find any televisions here. Instead, the Oak Suite has a huge oval bathtub and wood-burning fireplace; the Barn Suite a spacious, double-headed shower, large and sheltered deck, and a wall paneled with old barn wood.
We have been long-time renters on VRBO, and always looked for homes with two equal suites, so we created the ultimate two-suite home, and threw in total luxury and complete privacy for each suite. A complimentary bottle of Paso Robles wine awaits you at this 'Bed and Bottle' in Wine Country.
Parties:
Without prior approval, gatherings of more than 12 persons, children included, will not be permitted. With prior approval and depending on the type of gathering, additional fees/event contract may apply and may include stipulations regarding noise, shut-down time, responsible trash removal etc.
Pet Policy:
We love dogs and have had virtually no problems welcoming them to Refugio. There is a maximum weight limit of 50 lbs total, and a fee of $60 per dog. Please do not leave your dog unattended in the house unless he or she is in a crate, and please be sure they do not get onto any furniture or beds. Thank you for taking your pet out into the pasture to relieve themselves rather than staying close to the house, to avoid smells.
There is a back-up generator that will automatically provide power to the whole property in the event of a temporary electrical grid shut-off.

Summary: Unique property-- very conducive to our old friends meet up. Brigit handled all the communications promptly and very thoroughly. Casey was an excellent greeter--would have loved to have them both for drinks but didnt want to intrude. Info ahead of time was great. Beds were awesome. The location was just far enough outside town to be relaxing and bucolic and close enough for everything else. Thanks!!

Summary: This was the perfect location for two couples. Each had separate king suites with a large living room kitchen area. The kitchen was very well equipped. It was a short 10 minute drive to downtown restaurants. The host was great to provide restaurant and winery options. Would definitely stay here again.

Summary: What a lovely place, wonderful communication throughout our stay, clean and beautiful and full of luxurious amenities. I was so delighted to cook in a real chef + cookbook authors kitchen, every detail was so thoughtful, so stocked and incredibly spacious. Summary: Four seniors and our first time in Paso Robles. So much to do, and Refugio was the perfect place to stay. Very nice private bedroom suites and a chef’s kitchen with plenty of space for all four of us to get together. We’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Summary: The home is very nice and set up well. Hosts were very nice, helpful and friendly. We will return there on our next trip to the area. Location is good area is quiet and safe. Our group was two couples and it’s set up wonderful with two main suites.

Summary: Refugio is a magical place - the welcoming, easy feel is immediate. The view is a peaceful wow, we loved the plentiful/appealing lighting (with dimmer switches!) - and we appreciated the extra touches/pleasant surprises like placemats and substantial tableware and utensils. The window wall was heavenly on the days when the temperature was mild. Refugio was the perfect size for us; two master suites made it ideal for our stay. Leaving was difficult! Summary: We stayed with another couple for the weekend. Went to wineries, saw the ocean at Morro Bay and cooked some meals in the beautiful kitchen! Brigid was a wonderful, responsive host and the property was relaxing. Highly recommend
