Oran Mor is a newly built holiday home (2017) offering guests the best of quality in a country location not far from Dornoch. Every room of this 2-bedroom house offers spectacular uninterrupted views of Loch Fleet and the countryside and hills beyond of Sutherland.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped with two full size ovens, fridge freezer, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher and a comprehensive range equipment to satisfy any cook. Vintage and contemporary glassware and crockery complement the interior. The laundry room and toilet contain a washing machine and a tumble dryer and plenty of space for coats, storage and drying. A separate downstairs toilet and cloakroom is useful for guests. The downstairs master suite is furnished with a Hypnos super king-size bed with a custom-built headboard takes fully advantage of the views and a small sofa complements the Zoffany curtains and furnishings. The en-suite bathroom has a large rainfall walk-in shower, heated towel rails and a luxurious built in bath. Bed linen and towels are from The White Company and pillow and duvets are duck and goose down. The upstairs suite is equipped with a super king-size Hypnos bed can also be turned into two large singles. The floor to ceiling picture window looks across the Loch and westwards to the mountains. Full black out shutters and blinds make the room cozy and quiet at night. Ercol chairs, storage and dressing tables continue the midcentury style. The en-suite has a fantastic double height shower with two wall hanging vanity units and heated towel rails. Bed linen and towels are from The White Company and pillow and duvets are duck and goose down. The large mezzanine area has two chairs for reading by the floor to ceiling picture window and a huge L shaped sofa for lounging in front of 50” flat screen TV. The frameless glass balustrade means that the view from the upstairs dormer picture windows is uninterrupted. Oran Mor is situated in a quiet country location in the small settlement of Skelbo walking distance to beautiful sandy beaches and forests it is also just 4 miles and a 10-minute drive from the fantastic shops and restaurants of Dornoch with good access to the A9 for exploring the Highlands. A car is recommended when visiting the Highlands. All bed linen, towels and tea towels (one hand towel and one bath towel per person), electricity, heating and Wi-Fi are included in the price. A starter pack of supplies: includes toilet rolls, complementary pods of coffee, sugar, teabags. No smoking. No parties or events. Check-in time is 3PM - 10PM. Check out time is 10AM. Although housekeeping staff will clean the property after you leave, we respectfully ask all guests to clean and put away any plates, cups, glasses, etc they have used during their stay.

Summary: Can’t say enough about this exceptional retreat. This was our second visit, we were drawn back to this lovely property and stunning location. Nothing better coming back to a roaring fire after bracing walks on the beach and forest nearby.

Summary: We had a wonderful week at Oran Mor, the house is a modern design but still very homely and has all the touches of being looked after by someone who cares that you have everything you need to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The location and views are perfect for a relaxing break from it all whatever the weather, the Skelbo woodland walk and the coastal walk down to the old Little Ferry crossing are on your door step, and Embo and Dornoch beaches are certainly worth a visit and only a short drive away. We know the area well and over the years have stayed in several holiday homes and this has been by far the best, so much so we booked to come back next year within 3 days of arriving!

Summary: Oran Mor is a wonderful architect designed house with marvellous views from all windows and garden overlooking the delightful Loch Fleet. We've enjoyed a brilliant holiday. Genevieve & John are pefect hosts with nothing too much trouble. The welcome tray that greeted us on arrival was very generous and the best we have ever received. However, we found the sofa in the lounge a little uncomfortable. The large dinner plates do not fit into the dishwasher and maybe some champagne flutes would be nice. But this is being a little 'picky' on our behalf, and you can always bring your own glasses. The bedrooms are delightful and the beds are very comfortable with top quality bedding, towels and curtains. All in all superb first class accommodation, well done Genevieve & John.

Summary: Spectacular property and very well equipped throughout. Huge comfy beds and great layout, providing two cosy sitting areas. Lovely kitchen, just about every utensil/pan you could think of provided! Fab welcome pack on arrival too - very thoughtful. Great garden area too with amazing views. As someone else has mentioned, the fence doesn't quite go to the floor so if you have a small dog/escapee it's something to be aware of as there was livestock in the field beyond while we stayed. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again.

Summary: Super location, the view is spectacular, you just can’t stop looking out at it and it changes each time with the weather, the house is super comfy, everything you want and more , the Skelbo forest walk is excellent we took our wee Dachshunds they loved it , the beach at Embo is spotless, most enjoyable holiday in a long time I’ve recharged my batteries, thanks Oran mor will definitely be back.

The welcome pack was very generous with delicious goodies which we thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you. Everything you could possibly want for a holiday is provided and it’s great to see they support cruelty free products! Well done. We would have loved to go back but I suppose it’s the sign of the times and the price increases now make it out with our budget.

Summary: The house and views from it are spectacular. We could not fault the property which boasts every comfort you would expect and things like the 'welcome package' and the information and ready support from the property's owners are superb. There are some really good walks quite local to the house as well as some more strenuous ones within easy distance. There is also a good supply of distilleries within easy reach although you will need a 'designated driver' as none are close enough to walk to, or back from! We are already planning to return later in the year or early next year.

Summary: We relaxed from the moment we stepped inside Oran Mor. The welcome pack was full of delicious goodies.The location is excellent with an extensive view over Loch Fleet and up the Sutherland coast. The house is, on the whole, very comfortable and well equipped. Our only minor negative comment would be that the downstairs sofas look stylish but we did not find them comfortable. However there was a comfortable sofa upstairs for tv viewing. There is a lot to do in the Dornoch area, and we particularly enjoyed beach and forest walks. This is a lovely house and a delightful place to stay. We will definitely return.
