Come have some fun snow tubing and snow skiing just a short commute from this location. This South Mountain Cozy Cottage is a charming place six miles from South Mountain State Park and five miles from Pine Mountain Golf. The cottage is a tribute to Nature’s Playground where friends and family can come and enjoy the great outdoors of the South Mountain area.
The cottage is nestled between mature pine trees and mountains. It’s a great choice for couples or larger families who enjoy the tranquility of mountain country, hiking, waterfalls, nature, fishing, fresh air, freedom, vineyards, golf, kayaking, tubing, and more.
The property has a quaint charming feel. And the birds and wildlife love it here and so do our guest.
Besides having a fully furnished cottage, One of the things that make this property so special you can enjoy your own private camping space, I like to refer to as “Glamping” there is lovely seating areas with views of our local mountains, gas fire pit, hammock to lounge in and take it all in relax and reset, there is a horseshoes area bring your own horseshoes-and plenty of room for the kids to run around and play note parents take full responsibility for children in/outdoors. If you want to pop up your own tent just for fun you have room to do that too. It’s surrounded by mature pine trees and bountiful seasonal flowers, flowering trees and shrubs, climbing roses, fragrant orange supreme Osmanthus, sunshine Ligustrum, Carolina Jasmine, primrose, salvia and fresh blackberries when in season.
The whole cottage is fully furnished. The large kitchen is fully equipped, so you have all the basics for cooking during your stay.
The dining area is sectional so there is room for everyone at the table and for those who like a little more elbow room I provide individual folding tables.
The couch is large enough for everyone to gather for a movie or just relax and enjoy one another’s company.
The bedrooms a spacious, comfortable and plenty of pillows. Master bedroom has a full-size bed, bedroom #2 has a twin bed, bedroom #3 bunk beds.
We have two bathrooms one has a garden tub the other a stand up shower. I provide towels, wash rags, shampoo, conditioner and soap.
Even though we are pet friendly there is a pet fee and guests must include pets at the time of booking no exceptions. There is a two-dog limit and prefer small to medium size but if it’s just one large dog that should be fine. It’s the space to accommodate is why I need to point this out! The owner is responsible for any damages. If dog hair is found on the bedspread an additional $50 will be charged due to the house rule of no pets allowed on beds. Only those listed on the reservation at the time are permitted on the property at anytime. There are no parties or additional guest that are not on the reservation permitted to visit the property at anytime. If an item is left behind by a guest this property is not responsible or liable. Summary: Pluses; Nice yard, and front covered deck. Cottage overall room space was good, beds were ok/comfortable, unit was clean, some nice decorating touches, close to hiking South Mtn. State park. Drawbacks; No Wifi, this was inconvenient, limited tv, we could not get clear signal for Kentucky Derby watching, Refrigerator makes awful noise on and off day/night , contacted host but she was no real help. Needs lamps, better lighting to read.

Summary: We had a very comfortable stay and the property was as described. The master bed was very comfortable. Owner was very responsive. Just close enough to the grocery store for convenience but far enough out to enjoy the stars. Read the other reviews. You're going to be disappointed if you're looking for a 5-star hotel. If you're looking for a clean quiet getaway in the country, this is it.

Summary: Some things were updated but a lot wasn't. The outside area was great with fire pit (gas ring so no big fire) outdoor table set, horseshoes, hammock and cornhole set. Lights to firepit you plug in but bring a flashlight or phone to see the rest of your way in. Wallpaper is old and peeling, kitchen cabinets are old and crappy. Be careful pulling out the silverware drawer. And if you have more than 4 people you might want to bring some more forks. Use potholders to open the oven as it gets really hot and the handle is gone. The beds were comfy and the bedding nice. If you need a small fan or a bedside lamp, bring it. There is some folding tables hat we used for the bedside tables.There is one large fan there but no screens in the windows ( except on the front door) so take your chances with the bugs. Overall we enjoyed our stay but it def. needs updating. The area was nice and the South Mountain St. Park was great as always.

Summary: The property was clean and seemed well cared for. It is close to South Mountain state park however the route to get there is quite complicated. The property owner was responsive and check in, once I got the information was fairly straightforward. My hesitation on communication was that there's limited and spotty cell reception in the area, as to be expected in the mountains. Communications on check in/check out were left until the last minute which had the practical effect of having me search for enough signal to send/receive messages. There's no WiFi or cable at the property, which is understandable and appreciated for a tech break. However, does lead to complications when trying to figure out how to navigate and communicate. The property also does not have a landline. This was a bit concerning in case of emergency (either while staying or for those back home). The property has a nice outdoor space -firepit, hammock and table. The property is also on a corner lot of two not super busy roads.

Summary: We had a wonderful time and there was so much space all 13 of us fit comfortably, despite the dryer not working she offered to dry them her self but we made it all work and loved our stay there !! We will most definitely be visiting again 😍
