Positive: The host Dieder was ever so kind to send a day in advance clear instructions with directions to the Barn despite him being away when I checked in. The room was clean and comfortable. It was nice to sit in the garden outside with a cup of coffee in the morning. Relaxing stay.

Positive: The location was very handy for our visit to Lavenham. The booking was just for a bed (no breakfast) but there was a hospitality tray with tea, coffee, milk etc. Also a kettle, toaster, microwave and mini fridge so one could make breakfast. Lots of toiletries and towels in the bathroom.

Negative: The bedding was excellent but the bed was a little soft for us. We prefer a firmer mattress.

Positive: Beautiful annex linked to owner’s house. Nicely decorated and everything was homely and looks much better than the photos. Good shower/bath, central heating and even two toilets! Nice blackout curtains. Didier was really friendly and welcoming. Close to many lovely villages and National Trust Properties. We had a lovely stay and would happily return for another weekend trip.

Negative: Bed was a little too soft for us. Well located for our purpose (one night stay) but limited footpaths directly from the property, and closest pubs are more of a drive away rather than walking.

Positive: We stayed overnight at The South Barn while visiting a friend. Typically we choose hotel chains but this lovely accommodation caught our eye and we have no regrets. The owners are friendly and welcoming. They informed us of a local pub called for dinner, which served delicious home cooked meals. When we arrived at the South Barn, we found detailed information about the facilities posted in the room, which was very useful. The room itself is a private annex attached to the owner’s home, which includes a spacious living area, 2 bathrooms and full amenities. They provided ample supplies for a self-catering stay and the facility was clean and well decorated. The owners have 2 beautiful dogs which are very friendly and we enjoyed their company. We slept very well at The South Barn. The bed is extremely comfortable and besides some light traffic outside, it’s a quiet facility, nestled in the stunning countryside. We would happily stay again and suggest this accommodation to friends looking for a peaceful visit. We will definitely book again during our next visit. Thank you again for a lovely stay!
