Imagine yourself sitting on the porch, surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, all the while enjoying a good cup of coffee in the morning, or a fantastic glass of wine in the evening!
Enjoy the grill and the quaint atmosphere after a nice day of soaking at the mineral springs or hiking the many trails. Fenton Lake is a short, fifteen minute drive for great fishing! We are so pleased to share our home away from home with you, and know you will enjoy it as much as we do!
The Valles Caldera National Preserve is a beautiful 15 minute drive. The Caldera is an outdoor person’s dream. Use this link to research some of the many activities.
The Caldera and Springs Retreat is approximately 1000 sqft and sleeps up to 5 total, 2 in the Master Bedroom with a Queen-size bed, 3 in the guest room bunk beds with a double on the bottom and single on the top.
Features include satellite and two HDTVs. The following are also provided: DVD player, dart board, full kitchen, microwave, and refrigerator. All basic cooking utensils and dishes are provided in the kitchen.
Bedding and linens are provided. *Keep in mind we have a smaller dryer so our towels we provide are not going to be thick due to our dryer capabilities. A small washer and dryer is also available for your convenience.
Jemez Springs is a mountain community in Northern New Mexico, offering 320 days of sunshine a year, beautiful scenery including mountains, lakes and waterfalls, mineral hot springs, lots of outdoor recreation, winter sports and much more. Stream fishing, lake fishing, and trophy hunting is available. There is much to do to keep busy but it is often hard to leave the comfort of the cozy cabin.
*Cellphone service is very limited (Verizon works the best) and may not work in the area. The internet we provide is very slow and is available to check emails or social media but we ask not to be used for any downloading or streaming.
*Please be aware that there is no local trash service available so you WILL need to pack in and pack out meaning take all trash with you.
*Lastly, we understand you are renting our cabin to enjoy yourself and be comfortable but please do not rent our property if you want a full service rental. We live 1.5 hours away and can not deliver items you were expecting to be in the cabin (i.e. bigger drinking cups, specific cooking items). We also hope you understand it is a CABIN - not a luxury hotel in where you will not encounter things like mother nature or simply being in a remote mountainous area and all the things that go with it (i.e. if it rains or snows heavy, electricity can go out, mice or insects may enter if you leave the door/windows open). We do not want to sound harsh but we also get frustrated when we get reviews later that the cabin didn't have fluffy towels or they had no satellite service if they were caught in a storm). It's our family vacation home that we open to others who want to enjoy the area and are not property managers. We just want for our potential guests to enjoy themselves but also know what to expect upfront.
*We do require a minimum of three nights for any holiday weekend.

Summary: What a great little cabin this is. Stream Lee easy to access off of Highway 4, nestled in between La Cueva area and the Valles Caldera it truly is gem for anyone looking for a quick getaway or a true Mountain retreat. Property owner did a great job of laying instructions and expectations for pretty much everything in this place. Would definitely book this place again

Summary: I do not recommend this vacation rental. 1. I called the owner once because there were no washcloths, and washcloths were immediately delivered. 2. Water did not drain in the kitchen sink, and the garbage disposal didn’t work. We pressed the reset button but the disposal still didn’t work. The other kitchen sink drained. Thus, I didn’t call the owner. 3. The TV remote batteries were spent. I searched through the all drawers and cabinets and finally found batteries. Thus, I didn’t call the owner. 4. To watch Dish TV, I was instructed to use Input/Source HDMI 3 which did not work. I got behind the TV and there was nothing plugged into HDMI 3. I followed the cords from the Dish TV box to HDMI 2. I changed the Input/Source to HDMI 2 and got TV reception. Thus, I didn’t call the owner. 5. We received TV reception for 30 minutes then received an error message on every channel. Instead of watching TV, we decided to watch DVDs since there was a great collection provided. However, I was not given instructions on the Input/Source for the DVD player. Am I, once again, supposed to search behind the TV to figure out the Input/Source for the DVD player? I think this is taking too much liberty with someone else’s equipment. We have now been in the cabin for 4.5 hours and 3 hours has been spent with TV and garbage disposal problems. I have already called the owner once and have avoided calling the owner 4 times. After 5 hours, we packed and left the cabin. My husband and I love to hike during the day, but in the evening, we like to sit down to a nice meal and watch TV for a couple of hours. We are not the type of people who expect more than what is advertised on a VRBO property page. We just expect what is advertised to work, and that we are given adequate instructions to make them work. In good faith, I paid up front to rent this cabin for 3 nights. I've communicated with the owner 2 times since our departure about these issues, provided photo documentation, and asked for a refund of my money; however, the owner states as long as our issues were not “safety or lack of cleanliness” they do not need to refund our money. We have used VRBO for over 12 years for vacation rentals in California, Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, Colorado, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, New York, and New Mexico with great satisfaction. Only 1 time was there an issue, and the owner gladly refunded our money.

Summary: We loved staying in the Jemez Springs and Valles Caldera area because of the beauty, history and hiking. This cabin was clean and met basic needs. But many of the comforts we try to provide in our guest cabin in NC were not present, like comfortable lighting, bedside tables, decent towels. In other words, if you need a warm place to sleep, it is fine, but if you want a nice place to relax in after a hard day of hiking....it is only adequate. We also were offended by the wall hanging over the TV that boasted about working hard just to support people on welfare. We have many lovely friends and neighbors who have been or are currently on public assistance and who want nothing more than to work and be able to support their families.. and we are glad our tax dollars help others maintain a basic quality of life.
