Positive: Fabulous stay at Smithy Cottage! Ideal for a family of 4. Very prompt and easy communication with hosts, everything was clean, the cottage is nicely and comfortably furnished. Kitchen is perfect for a self-sustained holiday, you find everything you need. And it´s care free thanks to the dishwasher. Completely quiet for a good night´s sleep, beautiful views at the green hills and a herd of deer just across. No midges! And, the heating is automatically put on mornings and evenings - which comes in handy even in the Summer, we found. A perfectly cosy place to relax. You need a car but it´s not a long drive from the hiking and biking spots around Ballater and Braemar.

Negative: Nothing we didn’t like. As it was hot in our bedrooms upstairs maybe a fan would be a good addition (unless there was one and I didn’t see it)

Positive: Wonderful cottage in a beautiful location, nice walks from doorstop and in the area and close to local facilities at Bellabeg. The owners are friendly and helpful and have equipped the cottage with lots of thought, there is everything you need for a comfortable self-catered stay. There is an en suite bedroom on the ground floor and through another door off the sitting room there is another ground floor shower room and stairs up to a double bedroom and single bed on the mezzanine. This layout was ideal for us and our daughter's family. There are enclosed gardens to the front and rear and you can park at the property. Cannot fault it and would highly recommend
