Positive: I had an excellent, three-night stay with Madhu and Sanjee during the recent Vesak festival. On arrival I was welcomed with a cold towel and a delicious fruit drink. As many other reviewers have said, Madhu and Sanjee are so helpful and friendly. The room I had was exceptional. Especially for the price point and location. I don’t know how they planned the room so well as its far better than many places that I have stayed. So many thoughtful touches. Decoration is lovely and they also provided tea, coffee, water. The room itself is quite a size so plenty of space for luggage. AC is good and also an overhead fan. The balcony was a delight, especially in the morning and the evening. You’ll probably see monkeys also. The breakfast was excellent and changed each day. Also, a different fruit drink each day. The family have just opened a small shop next door which is helpful if you want cold drinks and snacks. I met Madhu’s mother, sister, daughter. All lovely people. The location is great for the caves and temple. It’s a reasonable walk to town which I did a few times. I’ve been to Dambulla before, and I like this location. As I stayed during Vesak, expect lots of crowds walking to and from the temple and also note that the speeches, prayers and music are generally blasting out all of the day and much of the night. There are speakers all over and it can be difficult to sleep. It comes with the location and happens everywhere where there is a Buddhist temple nearby. At times its pleasant at other times its not necessary and too loud. However, it is what it is. I ate a couple of times at the Black Mustang restaurant. It was fine. Quite basic and reasonable prices. I also ordered a delivery from Pizza Hut which was very good and delivered to the door. Overall, Madhu and Sanjee totally deserve their high rating. The property is like it was opened recently but it’s been open since 2021. They do a fantastic job, and I totally recommend staying here. Well done.

Despite its tranquil setting, the property is only a five-minute walk from the famous Dambulla Cave Temple, making it an excellent base for exploring the area. Waking up to the beautiful natural surroundings and the sounds of nature was a refreshing experience. The rooms were spotless, spacious, comfortable, and exceptionally well maintained. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, creating an atmosphere that was both relaxing and welcoming. The authentic and delicious homemade breakfast was another highlight of our stay and a perfect way to start each day. What impressed us even more was the incredible value for money. The quality of hospitality, comfort, and personal attention we received far exceeded what we have experienced at many high-end hotels. If you are looking for a place that combines authentic Sri Lankan hospitality, a serene environment, excellent location, and outstanding service at an affordable price, look no further. This stay deserves more than a perfect score. If it were possible, I would happily rate it 11/10. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Dambulla.

Positive: We stayed for two nights and were truly very happy with our stay. Our room was spacious and clean, with a nice bathroom. The location is within walking distance to the Temple and surrounded by greenery, creating a peaceful atmosphere. There’s a lovely garden where you can enjoy breakfast, or you can have it on the balcony. Breakfast was very generous. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful. They gave us great local recommendations and even organized a day tour for us, which was perfect since we arrived completely without plans. It felt like everything had been thought of for us. This is definitely a place I would love to stay at again.

Positive: Our stay at Simoya Nature park was excellent. We received a very warm welcome from Madhu and her family, the room was beautifully presented, comfortable and clean. We had a lovely home cooked dinner and breakfast overlooking the beautiful garden, nothing was too much trouble. The location is a very convenient, short walk to Dambulla Cave temple.

Positive: The room was beautiful and very spacious. Madhu and Sanjee (the hosts) gave us such a warm welcome with a drink and made us feel at home from the very beginning. They were always incredibly kind and attentive. Every morning, they prepared a delicious breakfast, always including wonderful Sri Lankan dishes. They truly love their region, enjoy sharing stories about it, and know so much about the area. They were also happy to show us around many interesting places.
