This property was previously rented prior to our returning from Alaska, after 24 years, in 2014. (Reason for limited recent reviews) We have owned the property since 1989 and have since built a new house. This lodge and cottage is now available. Many upgrades from previous rental history. New 80' dock, additional kayaks, swing sets for the kids, 5 mini split air-conditioning units, new living room furniture.
Paired as a large home and guest cottage, this waterfront estate will comfortably welcome your family gathering with ample space and all the amenities you need to make this your home away from home. With 500 feet of private frontage on Silver Lake, your family can enjoy all the water and outdoor activities this 5 acre parcel has to offer. The privacy and space make this an ideal setting for family reunions and provides a host of activities for young children. Our oversized shore allows you to step off the porch and enjoy all the toys that are included with the rental. The rowboats, kayaks, and paddleboats can be launched from your own dock so you enjoy the refreshing lake. In addition, horseshoes, volleyball and a pool table are yours to enjoy. Our home offers you the convenience of outdoor cooking on our grill so you can enjoy a picnic on the beach and relax into the evening with a campfire in the fire pit. Located just 10 minutes from downtown Traverse City where you can shop and play and within minutes of Traverse City’s own Minor League Baseball team, The Pit Spitters. Great fireworks after all home games on Friday night with great viewing from the property. This property is sure to be everything you need to make your vacation perfect!

The large, open loft on the third level is the perfect slumber party getaway that kids of every age can enjoy with 7 twin beds, 1 queen bed, and 1 king bed. A bonus room with a pullout futon offers an additional space for guests. This home offers a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher; a full size washer and dryer; 3 bathrooms; satellite TV; Bose DVD player/stereo and WIFI. In addition to the home, the guest cottage is located directly next door, (perfect for grand parents who need a break or want to retire early) offers complete kitchen, bathroom, living space and 2 bedrooms, which sleeps 4. One bedroom offers a queen size bed and the second room has twin size bunk beds. All linens are provided for your convenience during your stay. Both the house and the cabin have enclosed porches where you can relax and enjoy the lakeside breeze. Summary: Wonderful property with everything you could ever need. Gracious and responsive hosts, fully stocked inside and out with supplies and activities, clean to a tee, centrally located, ample space. We had a fantastic stay for our multi-generational group that we will remember for years to come.

Summary: We've stayed before on Silver Lake, but this property was, by far, the best. The location is ideal on a quiet cove. Also great is the physical outdoor property - LARGE beachfront and at the end of a dead end road so you don't have to worry about traffic with little ones. SO many things to do outside - volleyball, swings, water, kayaks, paddleboats. The house and cottage are surprisingly roomy - we fit all 18 of us! But what makes this property stand out is the owners. Absolutely outstanding and willing to help. GREAT place for family (multi-generational) gatherings!

Summary: We had an amazing week celebrating our fathers 78th Birthday. Our group had ages 9-78 and everyone had a blast. We all felt like we were at summer camp. Rick and Peggy were amazing hosts and so gracious. The house had so much to do. Great kayaks and smaller boats. We rented a pontoon for several days which was a big hit. We explored several nearby towns and ate at great restaurants. Highly recommend this house!

Summary: What a great place in a great area! Everything exceeded my expectations! Owners went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and special. We were a family of 15 ranging in age from 1 to 70. There was plenty of room for everyone. Beach and water toys were phenomenal! All enjoyed swimming and boating! Location was private and easily accessible for our field trips to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes. We enjoyed picking cherries and eating them. Sleeping arrangements were great for our group,especially the grandkids who all got to have a nightly sleepover in an enormous room. Just bring your clothes and some food - everything else you could possibly think of is there!

Summary: I don't have anything negative to say about this home. It was absolutely lovely. It was even prettier in person then the online pictures. Our children had a great time playing on the beach and having bonfires in the evening. It was a little chilly when we were there so we didn't swim much, but we did go out in some of the boats that were offered. The home had everything you might need. So much more then is even listed. Traverse City is a wonderful place to visit and being able to stay in such a beautiful home where we could relax and not be stressed, made the vacation even better. Thank you to the owners for sharing your lovely home with our family for the week.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It was well maintained, fully equipped and worked very well for our family. It is a beautiful setting. It had many amenities and, with 7 teenagers with us, we were thrilled that there were so many things for them to do. We received a lot of helpful information from the people managing the property and found them wonderful to deal with. I would definitely recommend it!

Summary: This house was perfect!!! its a lot nicer then it appears in photos. We definitely want to rent again. Plenty of room, clean, very private, and tons to do. The only thing negative, I can say is the lake isn't great for swimming.
