The hotel dates back to 1825 and is set in 262 acres of spectacular countryside. It features its own 18-hole championship golf course, full health club, spa with pool and AA rosette dining. All bedrooms with attached bathroom include a seating area, desk and flat-screen TV. Some rooms have views of the golf course and lake, none of our bedrooms have four poster beds. Positive: We stayed for a wedding at this venue. The views are beautiful, staff were friendly and the room we had was big enough for us with a baby. The food was also nice.

Negative: It is not pram friendly, we were on the 3rd floor and there were lots of stairs to get to our room. The shower in our room was not great, there was very little pressure.

Positive: A wonderful location: friendly, attentive staff: spa facilities. Tasty dinners. Staff changed our room immediately upon reporting dissatisfaction with original allocation.

Negative: Buffet breakfast - overcooked, dried out sausage/rasher, "plastic" fried eggs. First room we were given had many small issues, creaky floor, missing bedside light etc. Some areas not as clean as they might have been.

Positive: Stayed for a night on my way back from work. Lovely hotel with nice rooms and a great selection at breakfast. It was also nice to walk past and see the outdoor pool full of people enjoying themselves. I’ll definitely be returning with the Mrs. After speaking with the team, I learned there are extra charges to use the facilities, but they seem well worth it. Thanks, Shrigley!
