Positive: Everything was great, really enjoyed my stay in Shizukatei. Room was great and very comfortable, Baths are also great and the surroundings are beautiful and very quiet. They have a transport service and picked me up from the train station, it is just a 10mins drive. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and very high quality. Team was really nice, very patient and helpful. Highly recommended!

Negative: Nothing, everything was very good!

Positive: The amenities are great, the staff friendly, polite, and extremely accommodating. The food is outstanding - generous portions, extraordinary variety and really fresh as a lot of it is grown in the hotel garden. The location is a little out of Hiraizumi but it doesn’t matter - there’s a shuttle, and the location is serene and beautiful. Also the onsen is amazing!

Negative: Nothing - this was a brilliant place to stay.

Summary: If you just want to relax for a few days I can think of few better places.

Positive: Fantastic dinner and breakfast at a reasonable price improved this ryokan. Room was nicely decorated and peaceful. Facilities were modern, including a massage chair. Staff were very polite and helpful.

Negative: The shuttle bus service was confusing, while there were difficulties with the language barrier at times.

Positive: The inn was located in a very quiet location surrounded by rice fields. They offered pick up service from the station (check the pick up times and make sure you book). Amazing dinner was served in your room (a very Japanese fare) and Japanese breakfast in the dining area. you can order drinks in your room or there was a soft drink vending machine available. The public bath area was clean and the outdoor bath was very pleasant. It was a perfect way to finish our day in Hiraizumi.

Negative: It was not clear to me that we had to pay cash at checkout. so make sure you have enough as there were no ATM in the area (by the station) which took foreign cards. We had the twin bed room, the bed was very firm - might be better to take the futon room.
