Positive: The fantastic location with a panorama view of Kagoshima-City and Sakurajima. The hotel shuttle bus (free of charge) is very convenient for those not having a car as the access to the hotel is difficult (top of a hill). The round tourist city-bus also stops at the hotel. It is more on the expensive side as compared to the other hotels in Kagoshima, but it is definitely worth the price. The best part of the hotel is the outdoor hot spring bath with the panoramic view. The hotel has a high service standard.

Negative: The check-in time restriction, rigorously applied until 15:00, is guest-unfriendly and fully outdated today for a hotel of this class. Arriving guests have to wait until 15:00 in the lobby, although the check-in desks are fully staffed and many of the rooms are probably ready well before that time. At 15:00, the guests have to queue-up and stand in a long line for check-in. This is a remnant of the old military style Japanese culture where a clear and orderly organisation was the top priority, but fully outdated in today's society. It is unfriendly for the hotel guests and inefficient for the hotel operations as the check-in staff have virtually nothing to do until 15:00 at which time an avalanche of check-ins must occur. A more flexible check-in process, based-on the gradual availability of the cleaned rooms would make the hotel operations smoother and guest-friendlier.
