Positive: The location was absolutely superb. A few steps from Nara Park. It was so close to the Todaiji Main building. You have the park to yourself first thing in the morning and the end of the day. The design of the house is stunning. The natural light and the underfloor heating make the whole space so comfortable. The breakfast was also generous and delicious.

Positive: Great building design, beautiful home. Even closer to the Daibutsuden than I realized by trail. Listing said 1 bathroom, but there were also (2 ) half baths with sinks and commodes. Nice welcome snack and beverage.

Negative: Could have used an English language "cheat sheet" for the washer/dryer machine.

Summary: Loved it. Would visit again.

Positive: Stunning home in an ideal location to explore Nara by foot, bus and train. We loved the quiet setting adjacent to the park, comfortable beds, strong shower, fully equipped kitchen, dry sauna and washer/dryer. The bottled water, juice, coffee and tea provided were a nice touch. Appreciated the use of a code for entry rather than cumbersome keys.

Negative: Our only complaints - mentioned in other reviews and clearly not taken seriously - were the extreme lack of communication and the missing instructions for many of the amenities. We repeatedly messaged the staff with questions that took days to answer or were totally ignored. We were unable to use the dishwasher or the outdoor bathtub because our questions about how to use them went unanswered. Less important but still surprising for a luxury accommodation of this type: the staff would not make restaurant reservations even though many restaurants will only accept reservations by phone in Japanese.

Positive: Love the design of the house. The owner has great taste. The location is great - 3 mins walk to the park/ temple.

Negative: We couldn’t get the hot water to work so had to take cold showers. Luckily we only stay one night.
