Positive: Beautiful house, set in an incredible location with deer visible from the house. Peaceful vibe, and nearby to attractions and conveniences. So much space! Lovely welcoming pack of goodies. We loved the sauna and generous amount of towels to make this comfortable. The design of the house was well appreciated. Bathroom could do with a refresh. We loved our stay at Shibi House and glad we had 2 nights and should have stayed longer if our itinerary permitted.

Positive: * The traditional style and gorgeous design (during the day) * Very big ans spacious * Great location near Nara Park and also w few minutes walk to the city center. * Very calm Neighborhood

Negative: * (Personal preference) Too much “glass walls” that cannot be covered (in the living room) which makes it really scary at night specially that it’s hard to see outside because of the reflection. * Would have been better if there were some instructions manual (how to turn on hot water, how to use the sauna…) * Check-in was smooth and autonomous, but the staff may take some time to respond to messages.

Positive: I chose to stay at Shibi to seek for a peaceful place near Nara Park during my trip to Japan. It was only two of us staying at Shibi, but this place would be also perfect for the groups to completely enjoy the full facilities at Shibi. Kitchen is fully set up with all the necessary appliance from Balmuda, which is considered as the best Japanese brand. Balmuda Toaster is the must-try item. Gas stove is also equipped with a small oven to grill the little fish or meat. This was really convenient to cook them without using the big oven nor the pan. You may find other Balmuda appliances and fireplace at Shibi, and I could feel that Shibi team has a lot of affection to this house. The outside hinoki-sauna and the singing ball in the tea ceremony room (or Japanese room) really helped me to find the inner peace and tranquility around this season. These satiesfied my desire to relax throughout the stay. Rather than going outside, we spend the most of time to stay at Shibi but you will find that the famous Todaiji with deers is very close to Shibi (2-3 mins by walk). You can even see the part of Todaiji from the bedroom located in the 2nd floor. I already miss my stay at Shibi and wish to re-visit. The front yard is very beautiful with colorful trees and flowers. Among these, I found a little Cherry Blossom tree. This makes me promise to come back here around Spring season. Thanks the Shibi team for the prompt feedback before/during the stay and making us such a fantastic experience.

Negative: Shibi is little bit far from the Nara station, convenient stores and restaurants since it is located in the middle of residential area. But walking down the street will give you the calm vibe.
