Positive: The cottage is comfortable and homely with absolutely breathtaking views. We had a wonderful few days exploring the surrounding area but some of the best moments were simply relaxing on the terrace and taking in the scenery. The communication with Vicky was prompt and excellent. We look forward to visiting again.

Positive: The view is about the best we have seen in the Cathkin area, Peaceful, super quiet with an amazing view of the valley and mountain. Shepherd Farm is private, extremely clean, well maintained and the layout was well thought out. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything we required. Fresh soft towels and bedding. Comfortable beds. It was easy getting to the accommodation. Vicky is a super host, we had a warm welcome and made to feel like we were at home. We spent hours up until late parts of the evening sitting on the deck taking in the special view.

Positive: Wonderful peaceful rural location with a great view. Clean, well-furnished and tastefully decorated house, and the owners exceptionally helpful and welcoming.
Negative: As advised before booking, the property is off-grid, and power goes off at 11pm. Not a big problem, but bigger storage to keep the fridge and the odd light running would be nice.

Positive: If you ever imagined living on the side of a mountain overlooking the valley towards the mountains, peaceful rolling mountains, gentle sound of the cow bells and silence ... then Shepherd Lodge will exceed your dream. Vicky is a call away, helpful and a great hostess. I wish we had stayed longer than the three nights. There is so much to do in the area. Do not bring food, a few km from the Cottage is Hillbillies who sell local produce, there is a cheese shop and bakery.
