Positive: I had a meeting and forgot a tie, couldn’t find one around. They reception people were super nice and found me one and didn’t even want a tip. Brought some fruit as well in the first day. Great stay, recommend.

Positive: Shangri-La Behai offers a reminder of big hotel golden days. There was live entertainment in the spacious lobby with views of the swimming pool. Room service also offered a convenient menu that was reasonably priced for this type of hotel. The gym and sauna were well-maintained and clean. Our room was comfortable and offered a fantastic view of the choppy Gulf of Tonkin. Breakfast was filling. There was plenty to eat including fresh fruit, noodles, pastries, and typical Chinese breakfast items. Some guests might be disappointed that Western options are scarce. Seating was also especially scarce during our time there. Other plusses include Shangri-La's location along the water. It is an easy walk to the old town port streets and the more modern beach areas.

Negative: The bathroom was dated. It is reminiscent of something that was fashionable in the late 1990s. This is a nice hotel but a renovation is overdue. The hotel is not very cosmopolitan. The area seems to have some ongoing economic struggles related to long-term covid restrictions. It is off the beaten path for international tourists. I saw only 3 other foreigners during my stay at this very busy hotel.
