Positive: It was clean. Pretty bed linen. Nice bathroom facilities. Some cute touches in the decor.

Negative: This property was listed as a 2 bedroom house and implied you have the whole place to yourself. There are not 2 bedrooms. To access the bathroom, the person sleeping in the Murphy bed in the kitchen/dining area needs to walk through the bedroom. This was not articulated in the listing. Despite communicating twice with the owner prior to arrival that we wanted both beds made up, we arrived and only one bed was made. The phone number given for any problems was the owners phone and she was overseas. The advertised “2 bedroom house” was in fact underneath the main house and subject to foot traffic, music and voices from upstairs. The house sitters also left a light on somewhere all night which shone through an internal window illuminating the bedroom. The kitchen facilities were very small and not what would be expected of a 2 bedroomed house. The small garden area was very tired and in need of TLC with a growing Lemonwood disrupting the view that was emphasised as a draw card in the listing. Access when leaving was partially blocked by a car. The only possibility for us to get to our car was to walk around the back end of the obstructing car, over a steep part of the driveway with bags, in the rain. I did not appreciate the pressure to leave a perfect review in the information book, or the cleaning and rubbish removal expectations that were not outlined up front.

Positive: Love the personal touch on how Sue hosts their guests. From the homebaked cookies, to making sure the heat is running when we arrive late at night, to a doggy box for our furry baby. Couldn’t fault our stay.

Positive: Wonderful view as promised and very spacious. Lovely touch with the welcome message and cookies, thank you !

Negative: The kitchen area only had one small worktop area so was difficult to prepare breakfast and have appliances on the worktop as well. Could do with a few more kitchen items has bread knife and egg cups but we were only there one night so did manage and did not spoil our stay.

Positive: We had everything we needed and more. Lots of space, comfortable furniture inside and outside, access to sports & recreational equipment. The view was awesome and the general surroundings were super quiet, especially at night. Our hosts were very responsive, accomodating and personable, thank you.

Negative: Nothing really. The kitchenette is on the small side but as per photos and hardly a problem. We did put the scented "sticks" outside for our stay as they do set off hay fever or "allergies" for us. Again, not really a problem, we do this at all the places we stay at anyway :).

Summary: Wonderful views, great facilities, super hosts and located in a wonderful part of Lake Taupo
