Ski Snow Shoe but get away from people to rest. Fly fish the fabulous Elk River and its Back Fork then come back to your stunning mountain cabin to crystal clean air and fresh spring water. Mountain-top views set within a gorgeous hardwood forest on 18 acres with no fencing t the next 25 acres. Lumber companies help maintain the one mile hard-packed gravel road from the main highway 15 and the surrounding virgin forest creates utter privacy.
You may want to try white water rafting about 30 minutes away or just stay on site for crosscountry skiing, hiking or summer sightings that include birds, fields of butterflies, bear, deer and fawns, fox, rabbits and squirrels. We roof-watch the wildlife and feast on on-site blueberries in summer, raspberries and apples in the fall and ensure bear and cub sightings nearby.
Only 45 minutes to Snow Shoe or an hour to Elkins for high life, gambling, music festivals, and restaurants. Elkins is a college town with a black powder museum and live music festivals including the Memorial Weekend ESPN log roll, among the many town reunions where anyone is invited (must like Midsummer Murder's village festivals in England).
Wander the West Virginia-priced (inexpensive) antique shops with terrific craftsmanship that can only be taught down the generations. Each West Virginia town has a heritage weekend where relations near and far visit for a town family reunion -- newcomers welcome.

The cabin (called a ''camp'' in the mountains) was lovingly hand-crafted from 26 kinds of timber by a master carpenter/hippie. They had their first child in the only building a barn at a time when many city dwellers were fleeing suburbs in the 1970s. There is central air, radiant heating if you'd rather, a grill and smoker, a fire pit, satellite television, a washer/dryer/microwave, a new shower-tub, games, and plenty of books for reading during your stay. Wi-Fi has not reached the area but you have a booster for the cell phone and can hotspot and work online comfortably.

Summary: If you want a secluded cabin, this is it. It is exactly what we were looking for to explore the various rivers and streams for fly fishing and then come back to a very comfortable cabin in the mountains. The hosts were very responsive to our inquiry. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Overall, this cabin was great! I stayed with some friends for our annual camping trip. The cabin was very secluded, which was great. We enjoyed seeing some wildlife and having conversations around the fire without worrying about being too loud or disturbing others. I would warn any potential renters to be prepared to decipher their instructions/notes as they weren’t well organized. Other than that, the place was to our liking. If you’re looking for a weekend away with nature, this place is for you.

Summary: My friend and I and our dogs needed to get away from our busy lives for a weekend and let nature rejuvenate us. The property is exactly what we needed. It was secluded and private and had tons of space that was nicely mowed for our dogs and us to enjoy. We were a little nervous about the toilet situation and possibility of house pests, but were pleasantly relieved to not see or hear any such pests and the toilet was perfectly fine. Donna was a pleasure to work with and had superb communication throughout. We took the dogs to splash and play in the Elk River on the other side of Webster Springs and boy was it gorgeous! We had a fabulous day. We also walked some of the ATV/logging paths around the property and being one with nature revived us to face life again. We really enjoyed sipping our morning coffee on the porch while taking in the wonderful view. Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to enjoy the mountain life!

Summary: We had a great time. Reminded me a little of The Great Outdoors movie. With 80s magazines. Picture of the owners first trout on a fly kinda looked like John Candy, I loved it. Teddy Rosevelt portrait. Felt like a step back in time but in a good way. Was convenient for us when fishing the Elk. Only constructive criticism would be to update the beds. We overall enjoyed our stay!

Summary: We really enjoyed our time at this cabin. It's smartly put together if a little bit unorthodox. I would suggest getting there with plenty of daylight so it's easier to see the turn off. Also you'll want to make sure you're driving a vehicle that isn't low to the ground and has 4WD or AWD. All in all we had a peaceful stay during a snow storm and the views in the morning over the mountains were absolutely gorgeous. We will happily return.
