2 Bedroom House in Back Loop, Juneau

Please note: There are 2 listings for this house for our 2023 availability dates.
THIS listing, and price, is for the home as a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath (2/1.5), with an additional double bed in a loft room. So 3 beds total (a queen and 2 double size beds).
We also have another listing for our home as a 3-bedroom 2.5 bath (3/2.5) for a higher nightly rate. With this listing, we open the main bedroom with an ensuite. We wanted to add flexibility to our traveling guests to fit their needs and budgets as best as possible.
In either format, booking guests will not be sharing the house with anyone and you'll have the house to yourselves.
We also offer a car rental to our guests for only $50 per night. It's a 2007 VW Jetta that seats 5. Great little car and much cheaper that renting locally.
Apologies for any confusion. Contact for more info.
WELCOME TO OUR HOME!!
Located just 4.4 miles from the airport and 2.8 miles from the Mendenhall Glacier, this is our private residence that we had built in 1998. We love our home and want to share it with others while we're traveling ourselves. We hope that you feel at home while visiting the wonderful town of Juneau.
If you're coming to Juneau, you already know, or have heard, about the beauty, history, and adventures it holds. From our home, the Mendenhall Glacier is just 2.8 miles away. Auke Bay (fishing, whale watching tours, Hidden Peak Brewery, etc) is just 2.6 miles away. Downtown Juneau and Douglas, with all their shops and attractions, are just 13 miles away. Want a little peace and serenity, besides our front yard? Visit the Shrine of Saint Therese, which is only 13 miles away. If you want to walk a wonderful trail along the Mendenhall River, it's just 1/4 mile away. If you stay at our home, you're centrally located for all that Juneau has to offer.
About our home. It's situated on a large lot with a "tiki" deck in the front where you can sit back and relax while enjoying an early morning coffee, or a late evening drink while watching the stars. Well, not really, as it'll most likely be too light to see the stars. However, fall and winter stargazing is amazing if it's not raining.
Don't be surprised if you're visited by bear, deer or a porcupine during your stay. We usually see quite a few each summer as the house is surrounded by woods.
Off the family room you can enjoy a large deck (16' x 40') with a BBQ under a covered area. That way you can BBQ rain or shine. There is hot tub at the end of the deck, but unfortunately it is currently not functional. Hope to have it working, or replaced, by next summer. We have a large open yard that is surrounded by trees and views of Mt. McGinnis. Mt. McGinnis borders the left side of the Mendenhall Glacier.
You'll have access to everything in the 2200 sq/ft house except the garage, storage pantry and owners bedroom suite.
Upstairs, you'll find:
- Two bedrooms - one with a queen Tempur-Pedic bed and the other has a full-size bed. Each room has a TV and a closet.
- Full bathroom with tub/shower combo, sink, and toilet.
- A "loft" area with a full-size bed, treadmill, and TV.
- Washer and dryer.
Downstair,s you'll find:
- A great room with a kitchen, family area, and dining area.
- A beautiful granite countertop kitchen and pretty much everything you need to cook at home if you prefer. Oven, stove, microwave, fridge, freezer, Keurig coffee/tea maker, pots, pans, utensils, plates, etc.
- There is an island and a separate bar area for seating up to 8 in the kitchen area.
- A TV/family room with a TV and 2 couches, so you can sit back and relax on one side of the kitchen.
- A dining area with seating for up to 8.
- A half bath.
- Open entry front room with two couches. Plenty of room for an air mattress if extra sleeping space is needed.
- Entry closet with a variety of games to play during your stay.
If you choose to stay at our home, we think you'll come to love it as much as we do!
Please reach out if you have any questions.
If you need a car during your stay, as previously shared, we have one available for our guests at an additional fee.

Summary: This property was a very comfortable and clean! We didn’t spend much time in the house besides sleeping but it was an excellent place to rest up after several long days of hiking. We also rented their car which was very convenient for our last minute rental. The house is about 15-20 minutes outside of downtown Juneau and less than 10 minutes from the airport. Mark the owner was very good to communicate with. His response time was quick whenever we needed him although we tried to bug him as little as possible. Overall I would recommend staying at this house to anyone and if we make it back to Juneau this is the place I would want to stay.

Summary: My two sisters and I fly to Juneau to visit our brother. It had been too many years since we were all together. The property was perfect. We each had our own space and yet we could all gather to play a game and visit. It is exactly as the listing shows. An excellent choice.

Summary: We enjoyed this property as a group of 8 people and had no trouble finding everything that we needed. Great communication from the host, and the use of rental cars is a huge bonus. This is a great location close to the glacier. Thanks for letting us use this great place!

Summary: We really enjoyed ourselves here. Peaceful location. My sister and I took our Mom (84yo) to Juneau because it was a place she always wanted to experience. The house was great, the location is convenient to everything we wanted to do. Convenient walking trails and a river nearby for those morning walks. It was really an enjoyable week. Thank you for Mark and Katrina for being so helpful and responsive. The only hiccup was transport to the airport (10 mins away) at 6 am for an 8 am flight. Juneau seems to struggle with cab service. Four cab companies (two never answered) and no cabs available to schedule that early. Uber said no service but wanted me to book on demand in the morning (not a great idea to wait) and Lyft promised pickup by 6:10 am, but after several hours no Lyft driver accepted the gig. So Marc called Chris (the neighbor) who was kind enough to take us. Great guy! Wish I had said hello earlier to him and his family earlier in our trip. I highly recommend this property. It was a great experience!

Summary: My family and my sister's family stayed at this home for a little over a week. It was conveniently located near the airport, hiking trails, and the glacier. It had plenty of pots and pans and dishes. We enjoyed the yard in the front with the grass and patio set and barbequed in the backyard. It was nice to have a washer and dryer for our use as well. We enjoyed the board games too. There was plenty of seating for everyone at the dining table and on bar stools. Plenty of hot water for all nine of us. The master bedroom was spacious and had a nice jacuzzi tub. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of bedding. We were so glad that there were two cars that we were able to rent from the hosts. It saved us hundreds of dollars! We loved our stay and would highly recommend staying here. The hosts were easy to work with and very friendly with recommendations for things to do.

Summary: Marc and Katrina were most excellent hosts. The home was neat and clean and had a warm homey feel. They bent over backwards making our stay great- they had snacks and coffee and tea. A pretty bouquet of fresh flowers. If we called or texted to ask a question they answered in less than 5 minutes. Provided information on area attractions and restaurants. The location is convenient with a fantastic view from the front door. Very private with a lovely yard. If we go back will definitely stay here. If I could give it 6 stars I would. We use VRBO frequently and this was one of our best stays ever. Thanks Marc and Katrina we loved it!!!
