Positive: Clean.

Negative: 6 disabled bays full on all three days with the exception of one space. Mainly occupied with commercial vans and people using the gym. Despite clearly being able to identify the drivers no effort made to have them remove their vehicles other that putting a pointless note on the vehicle for it not to be removed and to remain parked there for the entire stay. Staff not in the least bit interested in maintaining access for disabled persons or interested in their difficulties. Poor staff attitude guarantees no further patronage of this establishment.

Positive: Clean, very spacious room and beautiful bathroom! The view was wonderful overlooking the narrow boats. Bed and pillows both very comfortable, sad we could only stay one night! Nothing was overcrowded and breakfast was plentiful and hot. The staff members on the front desk were very chatty and welcoming. My son attends university in Sheffield and we will definitely book to stay here again when we visit him.

Negative: Just a small gripe was the lighting near the big mirror was not very good, kind of standing in the shadow so no good for applying makeup. Would have been better to have a mirror over the desk and use as dressing table. That said, the mirror in the bathroom was excellent 👌🏼 Next time we stay I will also ask for 2 room cards as my husband had to leave the room a few times but needed the card to use the lift…which left me without the lights! Again…not ideal when getting ready to go out.

Summary: Very comfortable with great views and happy staff!

Positive: I’ve used this hotel many times without issue. Unfortunately there was some upgrading of the hotel taking place and consequently the dining room was relocated to a temporary location and the food wasn’t kept to adequate levels and you needed a degree to work the coffee machine.

Negative: The dining room was a let down but I accept it was because of renovation works taking place. It was just unfortunate.

Positive: Bed was really comfortable. Had a lovely nights sleep. Room updated and modern Bar was nice.

Negative: The walk into Sheffield town centre was not pleasant. Not safe for women on their own at night. Reception area was not very nice decor. Out the front needed an upgrade. Not very welcoming. Check in and out was poor. They tried to charge us for room again at checkout even though we paid via booking.com

Summary: Nice room. I think I would prefer to stay in centre

Positive: Lovely location, we were lucky and found a parking space in the hotel car park. All staff we saw were helpful and friendly. Room was fabulous, as was the bathroom. We wished we could have stayed longer but were only there 1 night for Hallam uni open day. Breakfast was excellent. Easy to walk everywhere we needed to.

Negative: Price was expensive compared to other nights of the week but we had to stay Sat night as the event was on Sunday and we were coming from Devon. Breakfast was £12 each extra but if budget allowed we would definitely stay here again.

Summary: Absolutely lovely but quite pricey for us. Get what you pay for!
