Positive: Elaine, the host, was very friendly to deal with. Instructions for arrival were accurate. The house presented well and was immaculately decorated. Loved the modern lighting throughout the house. The bed was enormous and extremely comfortable. The views from upstairs in particular were fabulous - overlooking a golf course and ultimately the sea. It was great to see the alpacas on site and also chickens - plus the bonus of a fox staring at us from the field! There was plenty of parking. Everywhere was extremely clean (apart from kitchen items as stated below). Great to have an outside space for sitting which we didn't use as the weather was poor. Handy for Troon - we had a taxi into town one evening.

Negative: The property was advertised as having an electric car charging station which it didn't. However, we were allowed to plug into a normal outside socket which gives us a drip charge (very slow!). The host said she would change the details on booking.com which is how we booked. There wasn't an information pack provided - we certainly didn't find it if there was. It would have been useful to know a bit about the history of the house and surrounding area, as well as practical tips like how to use the microwave (husband who has 2 degrees gave up!), plus local recommended pubs/restaurants. The settee looks amazing but actually was quite uncomfortable! There's no table in the lounge to put drinks (apart from 1 which had a plant on it) - we ended up using a high quality magazine on the pouffe not ideal. The toaster takes an age and just dries out the bread rather than toasting it. Mugs weren't clean plus there was egg left on a slotted spoon - I realise this is down to previous occupants but it should be checked by the cleaner. None of the glasses matched - nitpicking here but the standard didn't match the impeccable decor. Drawers were over cluttered with unnecessary kitchen utensils. Nice to have the Vertuo coffee machine but only 1 pod was provided - seeing as there were 3 of us (with the house having capacity for 6) this seemed extremely mean and I have absolutely no idea where extra pods could have been purchased from. Such a gorgeous place that somehow missed the mark.

Positive: Beautiful clean and bright house. All the facilities you need were there for you and it is in a great location, close to trains, buses, and beaches, also good dog walking on the nearby cycle track. Elaine is a fabulous host and nothing is too much trouble. Great find.

Positive: Loved the property and the location. The process was smooth and easy and the owner on hand immediately to help when needed. The place was immaculate, old and quirky property with fantastic neighbours (horses, chickens and alpaca!). Only thing the property would benefit from is another bathroom or perhaps just a downstairs WC, but we get it’s a period property. Would definitely recommend and we will visit again.
