Positive: Great hotel to relax out of the tourist venues. The hot tub were really nice and the bedroom great and roomy. Beautiful decor and the food was just exceptional!

Negative: We had difficulty getting the food because the staff said they had to prepare 2 or 3 days in advance, even though they sent us a message just after booking if we wanted food and we replied yes. It's not in Nikki were all the sites and temples are. It's really out of the way and complicated to get the trains to Nikki. We managed, but it was a little struggle and time consuming to go visit Nikki and the tourists sites, which are really worth it. Make sure you have cash with you, because the only ATM in the village never works.

Positive: Hotel decoration as feeling home, it is very nice hotel and onsen is very private as less peoples at time of my stay. Unfortunately, hotel cannot provide us breakfast/dinner during our stay of 2 nights. Otherwise, all are perfect.

Negative: No breakfast/dinner can be accomodated during our 2 nights stay.

Positive: Very quiet in a forest setting. Nice. Staff. Outside Onsen very cool.

Negative: Really far from everything. Which would be okay but despite being there at the correct time we couldn't get breakfast or dinner reserved which would also be okay but there is nothing open nearby for food for breakfast until 10 am. And that is a problem when you are visiting and have a scheduled day of things you would like to do. The place needs to add a couple of staff to be able to provide a few meals.

Summary: Some nice features but no meals available despite following their system to request.

Positive: Great Service. Nice rooms. Good onsen.

Negative: Outdoor onsen was too hot for us. But maybe we are just not used to it.

Positive: The staff was very kind and the food was amasing! The interior was beautiful and the hot spring was nice too. They change it every over night and I was only in one but very happy with that one. Travelers tip if you visit: learn a bit of japanese. They know some engelish but some sentences in japanese are good to have.

Negative: The location is a bit off. LOOK INTO WHAT TICKETS YOU NEED! We unfortunatelly managed to pay an aditional fee that we did not need (you do NOT need a NIKKO pass unless you are going to Nikko). Bring extra cash! Because you need to pay a traveling tax(?) when exeting to the city and when traveling back to e.g. Tokyo.

Summary: Futon, hot springs and calm. A great experience if you like a nature close living in a small town.
