Positive: The lodge is perfectly located. The bush gives you a tranquil feeling. The staff on the ground tried their best to make us comfortable but management was constantly letting them down. The game drive was pleasant thanks to Martin.

Negative: The entire booking was misleading. The Bush Lodge section is under maintained; the entire Buffalo house where we stayed needs attention. The toilets were leaking and have a stench. The shower doors are old, the shower drain is blocked and you are left in a dump of water after a shower. Taps, basins, everything is old. The entire flooring of the house needs to be changed. The internet was not available as advertised and when I enquired, I was told the lodge had actually been closed since January 2026 and they stopped paying for the internet for the Buffalo unit. Most doors give trouble when trying to close them. The so called breakfast they claim to have on offer for R130 is about 5km away from the lodge and it is only prepared for guests sleeping at Thaba Khaya (wish they mentioned this beforehand) When we thought nothing else can possibly go wrong, on the evening we were out at the bonfire for a braai and the lights were not working (AGAIN maintenance issue) We stayed in the dark for over 45mins before they arranged for lighting. It felt as though they were under prepared for our stay and we constantly had to chase them for basic things. Very disappointed in the management at Thaba Khaya - DO NOT TAKE BOOKINGS FOR BUSH LODGE BUFFALO UNIT, THE PRICING DOES NOT MATCH THE FACILITIES AND CLEANLINESS.

Positive: They really took care of us, they upgraded our room, we had a private game drive and the room was amazing!! Food was sooooo good! Cosmos was amazing guide and really passionate about his job which made the experience amazing Massages and views also stunning! Value for money and I recommend

Negative: Aircon was not able to really cool the room it's a bit small and not alot of options for self exploring but that is all nitpicking if I am honest

Positive: Peaceful, quiet with excellent service. The food, wifi & staff were amazing. Game drive was the cherri on the top with our game ranger Cosamos who is accommodating above and beyond his call of duty. He really made our stay most memorable.....We were there for Valentines Day & they made us a special candle lit dinner that was planned to the T. Breakfast was another treat, where we first were taken to the hilltop for a Birdseye view whilst sipping on coffee, & pancakes, then another trip to their hippo lake where breakfast was served at the lakeside whilst watching hippos on the lake. A really memorable experience that l highly recommend......

Negative: The no tv in the room as there is not much to do around the ranch during free time. The road to the place is gravel, far & limited network to call em for directions. In the middle of nowhere.
