Positive: This place is amazing. Right on a small hill in the middle of the rice fields you have Batu Karu and Sanghyang on one side and even a view down to Nusa Dua on the other side. The house itself is perfect, with very much a tropical cabin feel. It has all the right details, and you can't go wrong with this place.

Positive: This is a unique place - set at the end of a narrow track through the rice paddies, perched on a ridge with views over the rice fields and wooded gardens, and away in the distance to the lowlands and the sea. At 700 m and given its position on the ridge, there was always a cool breeze, and I needed a sweater in the evenings. The building is based on an old Javanese teak house, open all along one side, with two bedrooms opening off. The rooms have lots of windows, and we loved watching the sun rise over the neighbouring ridge from our bed. Bathrooms are partly open to the sky and the stars. From the house, it's a lovely 20-minute walk along the track back to the village road, and from there, you can visit the collection of small shops and cafes, walk up to the spectacular Batu Karu temple, or head away from the town towards the Jatiluwih World Heritage Site, with a great little cafe in the rice fields a short distance along.

Positive: This tastefully furnished house, with wooden walls and floor, has wonderful character. It has a spacious living area with a fine balcony looking out over rice terraces and mountains. The place is naturally ventilated (air conditioning is not needed), and you can enjoy the peace of the sounds of nature away from the traffic. The two bedrooms have comfortable beds and each has an en-suite bathroom with an outdoor shower. The well equipped open-plan kitchen has plenty of plates, glasses and pans as well as a large fridge-freezer, a good cooker, a kettle and other electrical appliances. Ample drinking water is supplied. Pak Nyoman and Ibu Adik, the exceptionally kind, gentle and helpful couple who manage the property, will guide you there - it is a little off the main road and as of April 2025 the house does not appear on Google Maps - as well as order (and deliver) food for you from a local warung … and even do the washing-up. We took our small dog, who was also made very welcome.

Positive: We absolutely loved our stay! The house is beautifully designed and inviting. If you are looking to unwind in a peaceful setting in nature, this is the place. I think my favourite part of our stay is the location/views that overlook endless rice paddies. A really special find and will come back another time. The staff was very kind and helpful. Perfect weekend trip with my partner and our two dogs.
