Positive: Royal Sea Wind Hotel is a lovely place to stay, especially if you want to be close to Polhena Beach. The hotel is just around the corner from this laid-back beach, where you can swim with wild turtles, which was a real highlight for us. The staff were super friendly, welcoming, and very attentive throughout our stay, always making sure we were comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with both English and Sri Lankan options available — we tried both and really enjoyed them. A plus is the wine store that belongs to the hotel. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Royal Sea Wind Hotel and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Positive: The Sri Lankan breakfast is absolutely first rate! The room we had was newly decorated and well presented, providing a fantastic budget option. The owner is a lovely lady, we would absolutely stay again. Polhena is also our favourite place so far on the south coast, as it is not on a main road like Marissa or Unawatuna. This section of coast provides great snorkelling and is great for families you can see sooooo many fish and turtles in water that is shoulder depth and protected by a reef. Lots of nice restaurants. Don’t pay more than 300 rupees for a tuk-tuk between Polhena and Madiha beach, they all ask 500, but we got 300 every time (not right outside the doctors, as they know you just paid ‘000s for a few coffees…..)

Positive: We had an exceptional stay! The staff truly went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and more. Everyone is so friendly and kind. The rooms are newly renovated and everything is so clean and new. We went out for dinner the first night in town and regretted it when we had the hotel’s breakfast the following morning. The food is all homemade and absolutely delicious. We made sure we stayed for dinner in the hotel that night. The sea view from the dinning area is so beautiful, too. If you’re looking for a peaceful stay with gorgeous beaches on your doorstep, look no further.
