Positive: The cottage is quite spacious. It has two sitting rooms, with both having a fire place. The sitting room facing the garden in the new extension has a beautiful view of the garden due to ceiling to wall windows. The garden is quite large, not what you expect considering this is a terraced house. It is also well maintained. The kitchen is very well equipped, has all of the equipment you will need to make food, also has lots of plates, cups, cutlery etc They also provided coffee, sugar, tea, cooking oil and other essentials for cooking and hot drinks. The kitchen has a dining table that comfortably seats 6 people. There are two bathrooms, one has a shower and the other has a shower and a bath. The one upstairs is better and has a good water pressure. The rooms are spacious, have lots of storage options and beds are large and comfy. We stayed at the cottage end of October, beginning of November for two weeks and it was very warm, even without using the fireplaces. Although the cottage is on a street with regular traffic, there was no noise and it was quiet at night. The location of the cottage is great for hiking and exploring Scotland. Lots of beautiful walks are a short drive away. Muthill is right next to Crieff that has plenty of dining options (some deliver to the cottage) and two big supermarkets (Co-Op & Aldi). It is less than 30 min drive to Stirling and all the roads around it are scenic. Worth noting that shower gel, shampoo, hand soap, bin bags etc are not provided, so make sure to bring your own.

Negative: The parking is not ideal, but not much the owner could do to change it. It is street parking on a street where cars go by all the time, so if you bring dogs or kids, you have to be careful. There is also a business next door that has a minibus and a van that often parks outside the property, so you might have to park a few houses down. This booking is managed by cottages.com, but they do not oversee the check in. This was done by a different person on behalf of the owner who is not that good at responding. I messaged on Sunday asking for check-in details as told by cottages.com people, my message was ignored although it was showed as read. I had to message again the next day asking for check in details as we were due to arrive that day and only then got a response. I would recommend getting in touch ahead of time to ensure you get your check in details. The visitors information book said that we will get a basket of logs for the fireplaces, but we only got a few logs. For a dog friendly cottage, dogs are only allowed downstairs and have to sleep in the kitchen overnight.

Positive: It was very spacious and modern, although being sympathetic to the traditional character of the house, also the facilities within the house were good and the space outside in the garden at the rear of the house was relaxing and beautiful.

Negative: The parking is on the street and when cars are parked at either side it is tight. Check in at 4 and leaving at 10 is pretty standard but I feel an hour either way would make it easier. Sadly there is no village shop although it’s just a short drive to Crieff.

Summary: We had a lovely family time over our weekend stay and the weather helped greatly.

Negative: Parking was an issue- neighbor to the left had numerous Business vans parked out front. Perhaps when you have guests arriving set out some cones? In the T.V. room, when we moved the ottoman, clumps of dog hair every where. Also, one guest stated when she shook out her bed's blanket it was not clean.

Summary: Loved the kitchen and sunroom! Garden was lovely.

Positive: The extension at the back and the fabulous garden. We spent all of our time in these two areas.

Negative: Parking was a bit hit and miss.
